• I’m not saying any of this is Gov. Abbott’s fault, but the deadliest school shooting in Texas history (since the U.T. Tower shooting) and the deadliest church shooting has happened under his tenure. That’s got to weigh on a person.

• I had no plans on watching the royal wedding but I got sucked into a replaying of it and actually enjoyed it. I guess it was the modernization and the black American influence infiltrating the traditional British royalism. Only the most stone-hearted of individuals wouldn’t have liked the performance of “Stand By Me”.
• I noticed the NBC anchors went out of their way to say they didn’t provide any commentary during the service. During the last two opening ceremonies for the Olympics, they were ridiculed for providing too much commentary and not allowing the viewer to simply take in the experience.
• I’m familiar with the Episcopal church, but not enough to know someone in the church would have the title of The Most Reverend, like the Chicago pastor who delivered the sermon at the royal wedding, The Most Rev. Michael Bruce Curry, the presiding bishop of the American Episcopal Church. Research tells me The Most Reverend is not an office but a courtesy title used when addressing a high member of the clergy such as an Anglican archbishop, or a Roman Catholic bishop. Curry’s sermon stood out because it ran a bit long and it was emotional, but WifeGeeding noticed he used an iPad to refer to his notes. I guess that’s another way the wedding was “modernized”.
• I may have mentioned this before, but when Queen Elizabeth dies and Prince Charles becomes king, he has the option of choosing any of his given names as his regnal name, Charles Philip Arthur George. So that means he could become King Arthur, which would be very cool. He’ll probably go by Charles for familiarity, but he’d actually be King Charles III. However, the previous two Charles weren’t looked at favorable, Charles I was the only member of the monarchy to be tried and executed for treason, and his son, Charles II, was known for his raucous romantic life. If he were to go by George, he’d be King George V, the previous George was his grandfather. There have been no King Phillip so if chose that he’d be the first.
• Queen Elizabeth has been ruling for over 66 years, which means people of the kingdom haven’t had to sing “God Save the King” in quite some time. Here’s a thirteen-year-old Julie Andrews singing “God Save The King” for George VI in 1948.

  • The shelters come equipped with double-steeled walls – the same material used to build military tanks They can withstand bullets from handguns, assault weapons and shotgun blasts.
  • Haugen estimates the shelters would cost about $20,000 per classroom. He said the district would like to be able to connect two rooms to one shelter if possible. Carroll ISD is considering having the shelters installed at some of its elementary schools.
  • In about 30 seconds, nearly 33 elementary school-aged children and their teacher can file into the structure to create an impenetrable barrier between the shooter and potential victims. The shelters could fit about 17 high school students.

• WifeGeeding scored a great deal at the local water park hotel so we stayed there last night. We get access to the park for two days and it made for a great early birthday present for DaughterGeeding. My back held up better than I expected on the rides. Not only did the kids get to play at a waterpark after school yesterday, but it was also track and field day at their school. They were knocked out.
• Tomorrow, WifeGeeding will attend a goat yoga session. It’s basically yoga with goats walking on your body.
• I’m not a morning person, but this new book has caught my attention – My Morning Routine: How Successful People Start Every Day Inspired. One of the authors was recently interviewed and he stated his interviewees average a 10:57 p.m. bedtime and a 6:24 am wakeup.
