Live Hurricane Footage

Note: The audio is pretty loud so you may want to lower the volume on your speakers.

This ocean cam is affixed to the Frying Pan Tower, 34 miles off the coast of Cape Fear, North Carolina. The tower was built in the 1960s to warn ships of the shallow waters nearby. Though GPS navigation technology means this tower is no longer used for its original purpose, it’s an important ecosystem for marine wildlife (check out the underwater shark cam to see what we mean) and provides a beautiful view of the sun rising and setting over the Atlantic Ocean.

Windy.com also provides some cool interactive data and shows you the location of the cam in relation to the hurricane. This is from the time of this posting.

Toy Story 3 IRL Trailer

For way too many years now, my brother and I (with the support of our awesome family and friends) have been working on a shot-for-shot recreation of Toy Story 3. This project has been an incredible undertaking, and we’ve made the decision to have this complete by 2019. At this time, I’m not quite sure what a release will look like, but I do know that this has to be done by next year. We’re both pursuing college and full-time careers right now, and it’s time to wrap this side-project up.

Bag of Randomness for Wednesday, September 12, 2018

  • Every now and then I receive an email about a neighbor’s vehicle being broken into. However, nine times out of ten it’s stated the vehicle was left unlocked. I don’t know the legal or technical definition of an automobile break-in, but I tend to think the neighbor is being dramatic when they state they can’t believe such a thing can happen in a peaceful neighborhood. I’m surprised people don’t lock their vehicles anytime they step out of it. I’m reminded of the time a neighbor, about eight years ago, decided to move out of the neighborhood because someone stole a handgun out of her garage in the middle of the afternoon and she no longer felt the area was safe. I was amazed she didn’t store the gun in a safe and secure place and simply left the garage open all day with it exposed. Heck, I feel safer she’s gone.
  • Elizabeth Smart is disappointed her kidnapper is about to get out of prison five years earlier than expected. I don’t blame her.
  • I saw a local news report about how the Texas Baptist Men are mobilizing to the Southeast to help aid in any post hurricane efforts. I have some friends who help in similar ministries in different denominations and they always are jealous of the coverage the Texas Baptist Men receive over their support. I’ve never researched it, and I’m not complaining about people helping people, but I’m sure the Texas Baptist Men does a really good job of marketing themselves or reaching out to the local media.
  • It wasn’t until yesterday I realized that the actor who plays Howard Hamlin in ‘Better Call Saul’ is the same man who plays Professor Laskey in ‘Saved By The Bell: The College Years’.
  • Beto O’Rourke was on ‘Ellen’ last week and tonight he’ll be on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’. Back in June, Senator Ted Cruz played basketball against Jimmy Kimmel. The only way I think Ted Cruz loses this election is if Obama campaigns for him.
  • I just can’t dogear a book, I feel like I’m disrespecting it. Magazines, on the other hand, they are free game.
  • Texas board revokes license for ‘Drive Thru Doc’
  • I only have bits and pieces of the story, but WifeGeeding’s father wrote Queen Elizabeth a letter. It may have included or referenced an article he found in an old magazine which referenced her wedding and tugged on his heart. A Lady-in-Waiting was kind enough to reply.
  • This kid thought the pastor was taking too long so he baptized himself.
