Bag of Randomness

  • I was quite surprised to learn that Sunday’s Super Bowl surpassed the series finally of M*A*S*H for most watched television event of all time.  I thought that M*A*S*H record would last forever since now we live in age where there are so many more channels.
  • I don’t think I have ever watched an episode of M*A*S*H with the exception of maybe that final episode, and that was only because my dad controlled the remote.
  • Drew Brees is the first Texas born QB to win a Super Bowl.
  • I read the back story of the Letterman/Oprah/Leno shooting.  The most amazing part for me is that Leno actually walked through the front door of the Ed Sullivan Theater; granted, he was in disguise, but I wouldn’t have thought he would enter through the front of the theater.  But I’m not sure why they shot the commercial in NY when it would have been easier and probably more secretive for Leno and Letterman to meet Oprah in Chicago.
  • In other late night news, NBC removes Conan from all things online.
  • I got a letter in the mail from a Honda dealership saying if we are concerned driving our Toyota 4Runner that they would be happy for us to trade it in.
  • My favorite Baywatch beauty was Yasmine Bleeth, and I know that she had her problems with drugs and stuff, but the 41-year-old is now back in a white swimsuit for a new Got Milk? campaign.
  • I think it is now required that God Bless America be played along with the national anthem at all major sporting events.
  • A Flickr set of imprints of birds on glass, you know, birds that tried to fly through glass.
  • I noticed my DirecTV DVR was updated with new software that allows me to not only see what a show is about, but to get a filmography of each actor in a show.  It’s kinda like IMDB is built into my DVR.

Ed Young addresses the WFAA report

One of my readers alerted me that Ed Young addressed the WFAA report in front of his church.  I listened to a lot of it, and here are some notes in case you are interested:

  • The plane is addressed around the 5:00 mark
  • The house around  7:00
  • Retirement and investments around 8:24
  • His publishing company around 9:20
  • Salary around 10:20
  • Members of the board addresses the issue around the 12:00 mark

Even though he discusses his salary, he doesn’t mention exactly what the church pays him or if he is allowed a parsonage allowance, but then again I didn’t listen to the entire 25 minute clip, so maybe he or the two board members addressed it, and I think it would be something one could find on the church’s website.

U.S. soldier ‘waterboarded his own daughter, 4, because she couldn’t recite alphabet’

A soldier waterboarded his four-year-old daughter because she was unable to recite her alphabet.

Joshua Tabor admitted to police he had used the CIA torture technique because he was so angry.

As his daughter ‘squirmed’ to get away, Tabor said he submerged her face three or four times until the water was lapping around her forehead and jawline.

Tabor, 27, who had won custody of his daughter only four weeks earlier, admitted choosing the punishment because the girl was terrified of water.
