- I have a feeling that the new three pound pretzel available at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington isn’t going to be a big seller.
- The Rangers also upgraded their video board, but they aren’t the only team to upgrade their stadium technology wise.

- Jeopardy! sure was weird last night. During the first round when none of the contestants could get the answer correct, Neil Patrick Harris appeared as if he was on set in Trebek’s place and provided the correct answer. Then, in the second round, the same thing happened except it was Jeff Probst (who use to host the Rock n Roll Jeopardy). Then, for Final Jeopardy, Will Ferrell appeared as Alex Trebek. I promise you, this was not a dream or a hallucination.

- There’s a local story of a high school baseball team sacrificing live chickens to end a losing streak, and the media keeps stating the influence is from the movie Major League. If the movie is truly the inspiration, then they would remember the team actually brought in a bucket of KFC – which ended up helping them.

Hispanic Population Helping U.S. Christianity Thrive
With the Hispanic population booming in the U.S., one prominent evangelical believes Hispanics will be the “lifeguards for Christianity in America in the 21st century.”
The Rev. Samuel Rodriguez made the comment to The Christian Post on Tuesday in response to the latest U.S. Census Bureau report, released last week, which revealed that the Hispanic population has grown to 50.5 million, or roughly 1 in 6 Americans.
Reflecting on the massive increase, Rodriguez, president of America’s largest Hispanic Christian organization, The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, talked about the impact from a church perspective.
It has “two powerful impacts” on the church, he said.
Firstly, “it forces the Anglo-Saxon American churches to expand their outreach in their communities.”
He explained, “Previously, the Anglo-Saxon church was able to survive by reaching out exclusively to its own people, but now it can no longer do so.”
Secondly, the Hispanic church is experiencing the fastest growth in history in such a way that the largest denominations such as the Southern Baptist Convention, Assemblies of God, Churches of God, and The United Methodist Church, among others, have confirmed that their growth comes largely through Hispanic churches.
“In other words, without the Hispanic population the evangelical church in the U.S. would decline,” he observed.
Bag of Randomness
- I watched Real Sports on HBO last night about how college players don’t get any financial compensation. At one point it was mentioned that all men basketball players all across the country were going to protest by just sitting at mid-court. That would have been a sight to see.
- Former college coach Rich Rodriguez was on the round table panel. The entire time I kept thinking he better watch what he says if he ever wants to coach again.
- I’m not a big fan of how the NCAA can profit out of the likeness of players in video games.
- As of right now, college players may get a full ride scholarship, but they aren’t allowed to work a part time job, which means they don’t have any spending money to buy clothes or go on a date or whatever. If big programs make big money, then I think those programs can afford to give the players what a student worker would earn working 10-20 hours.
- But at the same time, it’s hard for me to have sorry for anyone getting tuition and room and board payed for. For instance, if a high school senior gets a full ride at Oklahoma, you are looking at tuition of almost $14,000 a semester. So even though they may not get any spending money, at the end of four years, they get an education worth over $110,000 and can enter the workforce with a college diploma.
- I got the $110,000 figure by taking the $14,000 and multiplying it by eight semesters (four years of college).
- There are a lot of hot sports opinions about that topic.
- Former Texas basketball head coach was on the show and looked to be in poor health.
- I had another attic insulation come out for a quote and they came in under a grand that the previous company, and instead of paint/coating they were going to install the radiant barrier foil. I think I’ll have one more come out for a quote before I pull the trigger, probably the company my friend Andy recommended.
