Bag of Randomness

  • Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is going to make a speech and hold a press conference today.  I think he’s going to try to calm everyone’s nerves, but I hear it’s going to have the opposite effect.
  • Katie Couric makes the announcement that she’s leaving CBS News to . . . People magazine.  I’m not sure that’s a way to make a graceful exit after that network was willing to make her the first woman anchor and managing editor of one of the most storied news organizations.
  • The 25 Worst Mistake In History – Surprisingly, shockingly . . . Jerry Jones trading two number one draft picks for Joey Galloway didn’t make the list.  That omission makes this list crap.
  • I can listen to Bill Parcells talk football all day long, so last night I made certain to tune in to his Draft Confidential special on ESPN.  Surprisingly, he looked pretty thin . . . for Bill Parcells.  Also surprisingly, he said he like Cam Newton, who I’m not sold on as a first rounder.
  • The host, Mike Tirico has one weird receding hairline.
  • Whoever was the set designer for that special did a horrible job as the studio lights were reflecting off the draft board so bad the camera man couldn’t find a comfortable angle.
  • Jerry has become a better draft selector after spending time with Parcells, but he still stinks.
  • I wonder if Kate is going to wear one of these Disney princess wedding dresses.
  • This merchant preferred his Living Social experience over his Groupon experience.
  • The world’s last typewriter factory is about to sell its last 500.
  • DeMarcus Ware has been working out at a closed Hummer dealership in Grapevine.
  • Now that I’ve read the reviews, I’ve found complete justification in purchasing a $1600 HDMI cable.
  • A camel that was part of the Civil War
  • Gov Good Hair has named his boots Freedom and Liberty.
  • With the rise in gas prices, funeral homes have to improvise.
  • This kid isn’t into sports.

What’s a buycott?

It is collectively showing appreciation for a company by purchasing their products or services – the opposite of a boycott.

  • I usually let BabyGeeding play with my cellphone, but yesterday she actually managed to unlock it and call SisterGeeding in NYC.
  • The metal part of the pencil that is by the erase is called the ferrule.
  • I often hear high school students who have a GPA that is higher than the scale maximum.  For instance, a student may have a 4.3 on a 4 point scale or a 5.5 on a 5 point scale.  I know this usually occurs because the student is taking some kind of honors or gifted class that adds additional points on to their final grade because of the ‘challenging’ work.  If it’s possible to make a grade higher than the maximum on the ranking system, then I highly question the integrity of the ranking system.
