GOP candidate gives pitch at wrong convention

By all accounts it was an honest mistake, political party convention attendees said.
Republican congressional candidate Dan Dolan of Muscatine arrived early at the Monroe County Courthouse for the Republican convention being held Saturday in Albia, Iowa.

Unfortunately, the county Democrats were holding their convention in the same building, and Dolan spoke to the wrong group of people.

Bag of Randomness

  • I mowed the lawn for the first time this year.
  • Yesterday I turned in my letter of resignation to my manager at Lockheed Martin.  Since he’s in Austin and I’m in the DFW area, I thought I’d call first to give him a heads up rather than surprise him with a bland email and attached letter.  He didn’t really seam to care, but I still think it was the best move, otherwise he would call after I sent the email, so we’d have to speak eventually.
  • When counting the numbers out loud, you never use the letter “a” until “One Hundred AND One.” Take out the ‘and’s, ‘a’  isn’t used till ‘thousand’.
  • Bono wrote a character reference for Courtney Love so she could rent a new house, according to reports.
  • A fake movie poster about a Walt Disney movie was making the rounds yesterday.
  • I actually agree with Newt that we should pull the troops out of Afghanistan quickly, there’s no way we’re going to help change their culture for the better if there are pictures of our troops urinating on their dead, a soldier killing women and children, and the burning of their holy book (even if there was terrorism materials in it).
  • Obama’s approval rating has dropped to an all-time low, dropping nine points from last month.  This approval rating seems to have a converse relationship with gas prices (the same thing happened to W), so expect the presidential candidates to pounce hard on gas prices until November.  Heck, even Chuck Norris is on the case.
  • The argument that supports the Jerry Seinfeld joke “we’re just cheering for the jerseys” is down right silly, especially if you cup of tea is high school and college sports.
  • US abortion statistics mapped
  • I’m annoyed when I go to Twitter and I see people ask celebrities for retweets.

  • There should be a new Star Trek series airing now.
  • Randy Moss will be playing for the 49’ers . . . interesting.
  • WifeGeeding and I watched Dial M for Murder recently.  It’s always fun trying to spot the Hitchcock cameo.
