Several years ago, a long-time reader and someone I highly respect sent me a book about going through a midlife crisis. I appreciated the gift, but totally didn’t understand why he gifted me the book. I guess that showed his wisdom. He was just a few years too early.
I was texting with a female friend about how I never felt I was a priority in my ex’s life. She asked for an example, and I told her from the moment we were married, literally. When my ex walked down the aisle at our wedding, she never, not even once, made eye contact with me. My friend’s reply meant a lot to me, “So I could imagine her not looking at you like you’re the only one in the room would definitely hurt.” Thankfully, somebody else gets it. Should I get married again and my bride walks down the aisle without looking at me, I will literally walk down that aisle right out the door and into my car and drive as far as my short-range electric car will take me.

What is not commonly represented, but frequently experienced by those with OCD, is the taboo nature of the disorder: pedophile obsessions, postpartum obsessions, incest obsessions, bestiality obsessions, necrophilia obsessions, violent obsessions, and more. Some with OCD are not afraid of germs, but of their own brain that produces unwanted sexual or violent thoughts about kids, family members, animals, dead bodies, etc.
Amanda Tyler is a Christian – a Baptist, in fact. She’s also a Texan who grew up in Austin. But she says intertwining Christianity with American values is problematic and that the Jan. 6 insurrection is an example of that. With the recent death of Queen Elizabeth, many have stated that she never met LBJ. But, here’s photographic evidence of her with Lady Bird Johnson on the University of Texas campus (I know, people are referring to LBJ the president). She also visited Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas. I can’t find any record if she spent anytime driving on I35.
I wonder how much her death has impacted (positively) the British economy.
When I was in the sixth grade, I did a book report on Prince Charles. He had to do an oral presentation, and I did mine in a British accent. Funny thing, I didn’t plan on doing it that way, it only came to mind the second I got up from my desk and walked to the front of the classroom.
I tuned into Monday Night Football to see/hear Aikman and Buck. Unless I missed something, there was no big Monday Night intro with that classic music.

Nothing annoyed my mother more in football than seeing a player about to score and for them to look over their shoulder to see if anyone is close by. She would explain that looking over your shoulder slows you down, just keep running as fast as you can until you are in the endzone. There’s a life lesson in there somewhere.
In my continued effort to work improving Keith 1.5 onward to Keith 2.0, I attended a social engagement at church. The goal was to a find a small group. That’s just a small group of people you get together with and meet outside the church. They give you a chance to fellowship, and get to know others more than just the small talk on Sundays. I had several criteria. One, I out of respect for my ex, I don’t want be in one that she selects. Most meet Sunday evening, but I want to meet during the week. Not only is that when I’m most lonely and have free time, but I selfishly want to spend my Sunday’s watching football. The last criteria was to find one that meets when I don’t have the kids. Thankfully, one group met the criteria, and they only had room for one additional person. The only roadblock is that they meet on a weekday in which I have my kids, but they are all willing to change their meetup schedule to accommodate me. Keith 1.0 would feel bad so many people are changing their well-established schedule and I’d feel like a nuisance. Keith 1.5 embraces the grace and feels warm inside because there are people who actually want me in their lives. Now, it would be helpful if there were some hot chicks in the group, but I’m grateful for what I get. All are near retirement age, and that means there’s a lot of wisdom for me to partake.
I wonder if Buckingham Palace has any drywall in it.

Not until her death did I know Queen Elizabeth II never granted or did an interview. She believed the crown’s (or head of state’s) role was not to have an opinion regarding politics or personal matters. It’s a bit like Aaron Burr in Hamilton, “Talk less, smile more.” The goal is to get everyone to like you and represent a people.

My pastor started yesterday’s sermon referencing that major snowstorm we had. It was perfectly fine for him to do so, but any mention of the event is a trigger for me. That’s when my ex took the kids out of school early, drove to her mother’s, and decided to break apart our family forever. That was a cold, lonely week and I’m sure she thought I deserved it.
Today’s my brother’s birthday. I haven’t seen or spoken to him since the year our Mom died, 2006. I hope he’s well and in the spirit of U2, found everything he’s looking for.

If someone told me that the Queen of England actually met Reggie Jackson in a baseball dugout, I would have called B.S. But it really happened. To me, in that photo above, the Queen looks more like Lady Bird. If it wasn’t for Prince Phillip, I wouldn’t have easily mistaken her.
News agencies have updated the Queens obituary over and over again for it to posted instantly upon her death.. You know some editor screamed, “Finally, it ends!” Upon hearing the news of her death.
It’s going to take some getting use to hearing “His Royal Highness” or “King.”
