  • I didn’t feel an earthquake yesterday unlike several of you.
  • Today is the 16th anniversary of my mother’s death and me becoming an orphan. I think I mentioned last week it was going to be the 15th, but I’ve since corrected my math. But it does mean it’s been about 15 years since I’ve last spoken to my brother, who I found out was actually my half-brother.
  • I enjoy the Nissan Heisman House commercials. I enjoy SNL. I enjoy following politics. I think SNL should do a Nissan Heisman House commercial parody using Hershel Walker’s likeness.
  • Elvis never played a concert outside of North America.
  • I thought Texas was the only U.S. state that was it’s own nation before becoming a state. But, yesterday I read that California existed as an independent nation—for 25 days. In case you were wondering, the Republic of Texas existed for nine years, eleven months, and seventeen days. Presidents of Republic of Texas were elected to two-year terms. There were essentially five. David G. Burnet was the interim, then Sam Houston, Mirabeau Lamar, Sam Houston again, and then with Anson Jones.
