- I don’t know why some people take college football so seriously – A University of Utah student was arrested Wednesday after police say she threatened to detonate a nuclear reactor if the Utes football team didn’t win on Saturday.
- A lot of folks are upset the media isn’t covering Brett Favre embezzling millions of dollars from a state welfare fund. I get that. Most of the complaints are comparing his actions to active NFL players. I’ll just say active players always garner more attention than retired players, unless it’s an OJ situation.

- I attended my first church small group. I brought cookies and pumpkin scones to express my gratitude. They all welcomed me with open arms. The group filled with retired folks, and the joked how my age will bring the average age of the group down. One of them had a lot of questions about my mother and her Eastern faith. It was interesting talking about my mom for so long. It felt weird, and then I realized it’s been forever since I talked about or told stories about my mother. It was nice.
- The group kept talking about my favorite pizza joint that I stopped there on the way home. I haven’t been since the separation. My ex taught the owner’s son and has always been extremely cordial with me, I was embarrassed to show up. But, he welcomed me with open arms and lent me some advice.
- When someone tells me, “Aren’t you over that yet?” I think what I’m going through isn’t something to “get over”, it’s something to work through.

- If I understand this correctly, Joey Votto plays first base for the Cincinnati Reds, but is out for the season due to injury. Well, it appears he spent some time in the stands just being nice to the fans. That’s cool.
- On Wednesday night at Great American Ball Park, Votto made his way through the crowd wearing a Larkin jersey during the first few innings to visit with fans and pose for photos. He was heard during the broadcast telling fans “thank you” a lot.
This is so awesome.

If our Christianity makes nationalists feel comfortable and migrants feel unsafe, that is when we can be sure we are being discipled by someone other than Jesus.

- Who knew a photo of then Prince Charles with a beard standing next to Johnny Cash existed. It’s easy to see why he chooses to be clean shaven.
- If you are one of those who know the conflict of being lonely and wanting people near, but also being tired and feeling like you don’t have enough in ya to do anything other than get by, just know you aren’t alone.
- I’ve posted this before, but I’m posting it again as it seems timely. England has not had a king in a long time. To find someone who performed for the last King of England isn’t as hard as you think. Thirteen-year-old Julie Andrews sang for King George VI in 1948.
- While watching the state funeral for Queen Elizabeth, it just got me to thinking about how funerals are viewed across the globe. As the Queen’s car traveled, people were throwing flowers at it. In the U.S., that could be seen as offensive. When I was in California for a cousin’s funeral, other cars would honk at us on the highway as we rode in a limousine. It was later explained to me that was a way of showing respect and empathy. When we watch funerals in the Middle East, you often see loud crowds of people carrying the coffin. In some cultures, it’s best to remain stoic, while in others they openly wail. Then you have customs. In Asia, white is often worn as a sign of mourning, while in the West black is the custom.

- Not too long ago, viewers wouldn’t notice this detail because the service wouldn’t have been broadcasted in HD – Viewers left shocked after spider crawls across Queen’s coffin during funeral

- That’s a notary stamp on the desk in my church’s office. When I look at it, I see a golden bunny. And yes, that’s DaughterGeeding in the background.
- James Bond no longer works for Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
- In my ongoing effort to work on Keith 2.0, I did something totally out of my element on Saturday. I took the kids to a roller-derby match in North Richland Hills. It was a blast. They had a dj blasting music the whole time. It was also interesting people-watching, there was a lot of interesting self-expression, which I’m embracing. We had fun trying to figure out rules, gameplay, and scoring only by observation, but eventually asked a player for some help. I’d recommend it for a night out, tickets for adults are only eleven bucks.
- I believe there were two roller-derby matches. The first was a junior league with a team from San Antonio. They surprisingly start the girls young, the players ranged from ages seven to seventeen. We decided to leave during the half-hour intermission which started at 9:00 PM, but I really wanted to stay to watch the more experienced older teams play.
- The event was held at the NYTEX Sports Centre. Not only was a roller-derby being held, but we also got to watch Fort Worth’s minor league hockey team play and another league practice on two different rinks. What’s cool is there’s a Sicilian restaurant inside the complex which lets you view hockey action inside.
- The roller-derby trophy cracked me up.
- I took a photo with one of the players. I like how she altered her helmet to look cat-like. Almost everyone seemed down to earth.
