I didn’t feel an earthquake yesterday unlike several of you.
Today is the 16th anniversary of my mother’s death and me becoming an orphan. I think I mentioned last week it was going to be the 15th, but I’ve since corrected my math. But it does mean it’s been about 15 years since I’ve last spoken to my brother, who I found out was actually my half-brother.
I enjoy the Nissan Heisman House commercials. I enjoy SNL. I enjoy following politics. I think SNL should do a Nissan Heisman House commercial parody using Hershel Walker’s likeness.
Elvis never played a concert outside of North America.
I thought Texas was the only U.S. state that was it’s own nation before becoming a state. But, yesterday I read that California existed as an independent nation—for 25 days. In case you were wondering, the Republic of Texas existed for nine years, eleven months, and seventeen days. Presidents of Republic of Texas were elected to two-year terms. There were essentially five. David G. Burnet was the interim, then Sam Houston, Mirabeau Lamar, Sam Houston again, and then with Anson Jones.
It’s a rarity to compliment the way a health insurance company does business, but I had a good interaction with Aetna yesterday. It all has to do with a $3,559.91 balance the hospital I had my spinal surgery at last December says I owe. I appreciate how the Aetna representative took ownership of my issue and conferenced in the hospital’s billing department so we all could speak to each other at the same time. I didn’t exactly get the result I was looking for, I’m being asked to file an appeal, but I appreciated how they set up direct and immediate communication with all parties. I’m sure that in itself will save some time, money, and headaches.
Hardin-Simmons University’s football team recently celebrated it’s 500th win. In 1948, they played in 4 bowl games.
A hill I’m willing to die on, Phil Collins is the best male singer to come out of Europe.
High-Res Images of Wings Over Dallas Mid-Air Collision 11/12/2022 – In both photos, you can see the first officer holding on to the frame outside of the window.
At trivia night, I guess a replay of the Ohio vs Ball State football game was on. A lineman with the jersey number 69 named “Titsworth” caught my attention. He’s taking advantage of the new college rules and has made himself a brand, pushing products on his website – Titsworth69.com. And I agree, I don’t need all those tabs open.

I binged watched the latest season of The Crown. It was one of those shows I really enjoyed watching with the ex but I now watch by myself. This season made me think of her a lot since it centered on Chuck and Di’s divorce with a lot of Egyptian references. So much about this season reminded me of my season of purgatory.
A friend recently told me he thought witty t-shirts are no longer in fashion. I gave it about ten seconds of thought and agreed.
Whatever I do, I can’t get off of the University of Michigan’s Alumni mailing list. I suppose there are worse schools to be associated with.
I think former President Trump is doing the thumbs up in this photo taken at his daughter’s wedding.
BoyGeeding can now easily solve a Rubik’s Cube. He can do it in under three-minutes, and continues to find ways to solve it faster. We played several games of chess against each other for several hours yesterday.
I’ve never used the term brook for anything other than referencing it in a story. I don’t even know the difference between a brook and a stream.
When I was a kid, beer cans had tabs which came all the way off.
There are three fairly new books I’d like to read for enjoyment right now: the Bono memoir, the Jeff Pearlman book on Bo Jackson, and the Jimmy Johnson autobiography. It’s hard for me to read for enjoyment. My brother once instilled in me that I should not read any fiction or anything for enjoyment, just stuff that “enriches the mind.” Also, many people in my Baptist days would “encourage” only to read Christian books because if we weren’t reading to become closer to God we were wasting our time.
Here’s Bono trying to non-conspicuously promote his book at a bookstore.
Tempting set of four photos, which I warn you, is very, very not safe work, should not be those who are sensitive, and deals with medical gore – A particularly unfortunate impalement (NSFW)
