Yesterday I praised Aetna. I forgot I’ve been having trouble getting them to pay for the neck brace I was provided after spinal surgery. The medical device company states Aetna claims it wasn’t “medically necessary”.
I heard original MTV VJ Martha Quinn on a radio commercial yesterday. I haven’t thought about her in years. She was always very likable and seemed to be eternally youthful. She’s 63 in case you were wondering.
I couldn’t help but think of that LiberallyLean.com guy when I heard a segment on NPR on the evolution of storage warehouses. Partially because of him, I invested in a select mutual fund which deals with the subject.
Thanks to my Twitter follower (and I’m guessing loyal BoN reader) who suggested Buon Giorno Coffee as a meeting place for me and my friend. It also appeared as a suggestion in MeetWays.com, which was the first time I partook of the service. That website is pretty nifty and fills a niche need. Basically, if you and a friend want to find a place to meet at in between of two locations, all you have to do is plug in each other’s ZIP code and the type of place you’d like to meet, and you’re provided with a list of places on a map. In case you are wondering, they aren’t paying me for endorsing their product. I’m just looking for stuff to find and take up space in today’s post.
Whether you are meeting a far away friend, organizing a Craigslist transaction, or connecting with a client for lunch, MeetWays helps you find the halfway point. No more extra driving, lost time, or wasted gas. Simply enter the addresses and a point of interest. We’ll give you a list of ideal meeting points, driving directions, and local reviews so you can choose the perfect place.
I’m willing to bet good money Jesus never wore a cross.
I’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic about cars as of late. The pop-up headlights were cool, but are no more due to regulations. Also, the more moving parts you have, the higher the chance of something breaking. Speaking of moving parts, the powered antennae that raised and lowered felt like something out of NASA for a kid like me.
I never understood wood paneling on automobiles. It felt like the opposite of technological advancement. I also never understood why car seats would have tucked buttons. They were a failure waiting to happen and a magnet for crumbs, dirt, and all sorts of debris. I did get a kick out of the bench front seat, which was move like a couch. It was always a family effort having to move that thing forward for my vertically-challenged mother.

I didn’t feel an earthquake yesterday unlike several of you.
Today is the 16th anniversary of my mother’s death and me becoming an orphan. I think I mentioned last week it was going to be the 15th, but I’ve since corrected my math. But it does mean it’s been about 15 years since I’ve last spoken to my brother, who I found out was actually my half-brother.
I enjoy the Nissan Heisman House commercials. I enjoy SNL. I enjoy following politics. I think SNL should do a Nissan Heisman House commercial parody using Hershel Walker’s likeness.
Elvis never played a concert outside of North America.
I thought Texas was the only U.S. state that was it’s own nation before becoming a state. But, yesterday I read that California existed as an independent nation—for 25 days. In case you were wondering, the Republic of Texas existed for nine years, eleven months, and seventeen days. Presidents of Republic of Texas were elected to two-year terms. There were essentially five. David G. Burnet was the interim, then Sam Houston, Mirabeau Lamar, Sam Houston again, and then with Anson Jones.
It’s a rarity to compliment the way a health insurance company does business, but I had a good interaction with Aetna yesterday. It all has to do with a $3,559.91 balance the hospital I had my spinal surgery at last December says I owe. I appreciate how the Aetna representative took ownership of my issue and conferenced in the hospital’s billing department so we all could speak to each other at the same time. I didn’t exactly get the result I was looking for, I’m being asked to file an appeal, but I appreciated how they set up direct and immediate communication with all parties. I’m sure that in itself will save some time, money, and headaches.
Hardin-Simmons University’s football team recently celebrated it’s 500th win. In 1948, they played in 4 bowl games.
A hill I’m willing to die on, Phil Collins is the best male singer to come out of Europe.
High-Res Images of Wings Over Dallas Mid-Air Collision 11/12/2022 – In both photos, you can see the first officer holding on to the frame outside of the window.
At trivia night, I guess a replay of the Ohio vs Ball State football game was on. A lineman with the jersey number 69 named “Titsworth” caught my attention. He’s taking advantage of the new college rules and has made himself a brand, pushing products on his website – Titsworth69.com. And I agree, I don’t need all those tabs open.

I binged watched the latest season of The Crown. It was one of those shows I really enjoyed watching with the ex but I now watch by myself. This season made me think of her a lot since it centered on Chuck and Di’s divorce with a lot of Egyptian references. So much about this season reminded me of my season of purgatory.
A friend recently told me he thought witty t-shirts are no longer in fashion. I gave it about ten seconds of thought and agreed.
Whatever I do, I can’t get off of the University of Michigan’s Alumni mailing list. I suppose there are worse schools to be associated with.
