John Cusack pulls a “Say Anything” at a Peter Gabriel Concert during “In Your Eyes”

I’ve never seen the movie, but of course I’m familiar with this iconic scene.

I guess he didn’t go into to “full character” since all he really did was bring out a boom box, but it was still kinda cool. And who knew Gabriel could have an eleven-minute rendition of this song.

Bag of Randomness

  • The university in which I’ve obtained my undergraduate degree has me on some weird  mailing lists.  They once sent my dog an invitation to attend a children’s event.  They keep telling me to update my contact information stating this is the fourth and last attempt, yet I know I’ve gotten about ten of these stating it’s their fourth time contacting me. Last year I got a letter from the head basketball coach asking me to donate to the basketball program because I’m a former player (I never played college ball).  And yesterday I got an email from the basketball department if I would like to take part in an alumni basketball game among fellow former players.
  • Since the mention of PBS in last week’s presidential debate there’s been a lot of articles about The Learning Channel as of late.  I didn’t know that it was started in 1972 as a non-profit with support from the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare and NASA.  It later became privatized and has/had shows like “Trading Spaces”, “Jon and Kate Plus Eight”, “Hoarders”, “Toddlers and Tierras”, and “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”.

I was weeping and telling myself, ‘Don’t cry—that’s dehydrating.’”

Man Dies in Bug Eating Contest

A West Palm Beach man has died after eating “a variety of insects” as part of a competition, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Edward Archbold, 32, was participating in a roach-eating contest at Ben Seigel Reptiles in Deerfield Beach, where contestants signed up to eat a variety of insects for the chance to win a python, BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said.

Shortly after the contest was over, Archbold complained of feeling ill and began to vomit the dozens of roaches and worms he had consumed, then collapsed in front of the store, Concepcion said.

Archbold was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The medical examiner’s office is awaiting results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
