Bag of Randomness

  • I’m still not over this sinus infection that’s gotten the better of me since the first week of November, despite three rounds of different antibiotics.  Heck, I even went in for an accupuncture treatment ealier this week.  This morning I have an appointment with an ear-nose-throat doctor at 8:00 am.  This will be my first drive in morning traffic since March.
  • When you work from home, sometimes it’s hard to justify buying new clothes.
  • About two years ago I started to watch “Breaking Bad” and only got a little through the first season because it didn’t live up to the hype, mainly because my close friends set a pretty high expectation for it.  This week I started where I left off and I’m now I’m a little bit through season three.  There’s some reality you have to suspend (I don’t see Jessie surviving that scene right before the ATM incident), and even though I don’t find it as captivating as most of my friends, I’m highly entertained.  I think the one scene that really got me was when Skylar told Walt what she did with Tim, there was something about just the way she said it.
  • WifeGeeding and I finally got around to watching the season ending episode of “Homeland.”  That show did the impossible, it made a one hour episode feel like three hours.  I have no idea if I’m in it for a third season, but I did pick up on the late VP’s wife calling Brody by his fist name and it made me think of one of my reader’s theory, that just might hold true.
  • The Christmas commercials this year are rather bland.
  • As a kid I thought “Happy Holidays” was a faster way of saying “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”  Actually, I still do.

Feel Good Story of the Day

Jon Kitna is a former NFL quarterback, who’s last stint was as a backup with the Cowboys.  He returned home to teach (algebra of all things) and coach.  He asked the principal for the worst students, and after a lot of time, effort, and compassion, and really reached them.

The article also mentions how Cowboys players like Tony Romo and DeMarcus Ware, as well as the Cowboys and Seahawks have lent a helping hand.

It’s a bit of a long read, but I think well worth it.

You can read it here.  Seriously, it’s worth your time, especially after all the negative news that’s been everywhere as of late.
