Bag of Randomness
- I don’t think the continuation of ‘Dallas’ is all that good, but I watch it for the nostalgia and because I can see some local stuff. Some thoughts on last night’s episode:
- How fitting was it for Barry Corbin, another actor whose current resident is Weatherford, TX, the hometown of Larry Hagman, to read J.R.’s will. I loved Corbin in “Northern Exposure” as retired astronaut Maurice Minnifield, who would have made a great father to Ron Swanson.
- It was quite interesting that Miss Ellie spoke from the grave, albeit a letter.
- I always thought J.R. was a Jr, I didn’t realize he was actually John Ross Ewing II.
- I think the new Clyde Warren Park made an appearance.
- The previews for next week makes it look like Dallas is on the coast, like Houston.
- Brad Watson is leaving WFAA after 34-years. When I heard the news, I actually thought he left to go to a conservative think tank or to help run the campaign for a Republican.
- Two men in wingsuits got a lot of attention when they flew between two buildings in Rio. I’d be more impressed if they were in Dallas and few through the keyhole in the JP Morgan Chase Building. I’ve always loved that skyscraper. Rand fact about that building – The Edsel automobile (known for that big hole or keyhole on the grill) dealership was located on this building’s site in 1957.

News Anchor Reads/Reports Her Own Proposal
FOX 54 WZDX – Huntsville News, Weather and Sports
Saturday night on the FOX54 Nine O’clock News, weekend anchor Jillian Pavlica was surprised with a ring from her boyfriend Vince.
Her producer, Dana Conley, simply told her before the segment there was breaking news. Dana told Jillian she wrote the script and put it in the teleprompter and instructed her to just read what was in there.
The “breaking news” script read, “We’ve got breaking news to share with you tonight. FOX54 has just learned that a Huntsville news anchor is being proposed to on live TV right now!”
Jillian made it to “proposed” and then figured it out. Out came Vince, Jillian’s boyfriend (now fiance). He got on one knee and popped the question.
It’s kinda like Jurassic Park, but with a frog that gives birth through its mouth
This frozen extinct frog cloning experiment has about all the ingredients you could wish for a certain kind of movie — except its just about a harmless frog. On the other hand, the techniques used to revive this extinct species are being developed to be applied on all kinds of reptiles.
Towards this goal, Australian scientists successfully reconstructed the complete genome of an extinct frog species that gave birth through its mouth by first reviving cells that were frozen for decades, and then fusing them together with an egg from another species of frog. By using their cloning technology to combine the unfrozen dead nucleus and the fresh egg, the species of Rheobatrachus silus (gastric-brooding frog) could be on its way to live once again.
