  • Working from home makes it hard to sneak out and buy something for Mothers’ Day.  If all else fails, moms eat free at Hooters on Sunday.
  • The antibiotics may have been the cause of a strange dream, that is, if you think being stuck in a Nick Lachey aerobics class where he’s wearing a leotard is strange.
  • I’ve always wondered what happens if a person collects on life insurance and years later the person is found alive.
  • WifeGeeding and I often stop down and try to figure out how GirlGeeding is expanding her vocabulary.  What two-year-old uses the word “consistent” in a sentence?
  • I’ve talked about moving to a smaller city or town, and WifeGeeding thought that meant near her hometown, and her family has been sending her real estate listings ever since.  I was actually thinking something west or south of Fort Worth because I think it would be easier on my allergies and personally, I think it’s prettier than East Texas.
  • I don’t know of one single True Value in DFW.
  • I have a feeling Gatsby is going to under-perform at the box office.  That story was never assigned reading for me in either high school or college.
  • I had a conversation about conversion vans the other day and how they use to have a table in the back to play cards.
  • One of my childhood friends has always tried to keep the gang clear from speaking about things relating to a sexual nature, and I think it’s because he has always wanted to keep a clean heart.  He’s still that way, and I got a kick out of his reaction when one person simply mentioned the word “Viagra”.  It’s like he’s never seen a commercial during a sporting event.

  • In a special issue of Forbes, Microsoft has an advertisement which includes a slimmed down router (actually inside the magazine) that will give the user 15 days of free WiFi for up to five devices at once.  That doesn’t sound like anything Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce would think of.
  • Everytime I see a Survivor’ episode where the contestants meet up with a family or loved one, I can’t help but think they could never make it through military life.

  • It appears I have a case of strep throat.
  • I never understood why the nurse at the doctor’s office asks me how am I doing.  I’m sick, I only see you when I’m sick, how do you think I’m doing?
  • When I’m the only one at the pharmacy, I don’t understand why it takes 15-20 minutes to fill my prescription for a common antibiotic.  It looks like all they have to do is type a few things in the computer, pour some pills in one bottle into another, and attach a label.  But I guess with most jobs, there’s a lot more to it than what we see.
  • My instructions on my prescription states “Take two capsules by mouth daily.”  At first I didn’t know if that meant take two at one time daily, or just take two within on day’s period.

  • He’s no Cool Hand Luke – Man, 20, dies after eating 28 raw eggs in a row for a bet
  • 26 Interesting Photos Behind the GW Bush Presidency – The first one with the boxing robe and peaking out of the Oval is funny, and so is the one of him riding a bike down a narrow hallway, practicing a speech in shots on Air Force One, but for some reason I’m struck with the one of Condoleezza Rice playing the piano as the President walks down the stairs, as if she’s just trying to kill a bit of time and release some tension by utilizing a tool from one of her favorite hobbies.
  • Gov Chris Christie has lost weight and wasn’t around CPAC or the NRA convention. I think this will actually help him in the long term, heck, I kind of think of him as a toned down modern day Teddy Roosevelt without the facial hair an military experience.  Speaking of the Christie, here’s a moderately funny video his office released that has cameos from Bon Jovi, James Carville, Alec Baldwin, and a few others.
  • I’m still watching ‘Rectify” and really like it.  The last episode has a lot of great religious and philosophical undertones.  The main character talked about Thomas Aquinas and stated how he felt God revealed himself in nature, that super natural revelation is faith and natural revelation is reason…and the two aren’t contradictory but complimentary to one another.  That was enough to make me want to read more about Thomas Aquinas.
  • That Robert Downy Jr sure has changed his life for the better.  After drugs and jail he was lucky that he got a role on Ally McBeal from 2000-2002, he played a supporting role as a vet in the Shaggy Dog back in 2006, and now his latest Iron Man movie is breaking records.
  • For you fellow ‘Mad Men’ fans, in case you were wondering how much the SCDP IPO would have went for, $17.1 million in 1968, or about $114.4 million in today’s dollars.
  • Charles Barkley was recently on Dan Patrick’s radio show and stated that he thinks everyone in the NBA, during his playing career, has played with a gay player.  Related and probably overlooked, Brittney Griner wrote a thoughtful piece in the NY Times about her sexuality and Jason Collins.  She still hasn’t mentioned anything about her sexual preference and how it may have impacted her while a student at religious conservative Baylor. I’m curious to know if it was a non-issue with the student body and even the staff if she was as open as she says she was.  Being the great player that she was at Baylor, I wonder if she’ll get her number retired, and if not, I wonder if her sexual preference would be a hindrance in that decision.  I’d say Baylor should retire the number and show that they accept not for being just who she is.
  • I hear DFW Airport garages, at least some of them, have indicators telling you where the next available open spot is located.
  • The Golden State Warriors are moving to a new area on several piers in San Fransicso.  If that isn’t a cool enough concept, the new arena will have a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the inside.

  • Anyone miss Josh Hamilton?  I’m sure he’ll get streaky sooner or later, but I prefer consistency and a level head.
