  • Regarding that pic, I’d take Calvin and Hobbes in that fight over Christopher Robbin and Pooh.
  • ‘The Big Bang Theory’ made a good point about Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark – Indy isn’t essential to the outcome of the movie.  If you remove Indy the Nazis would have still found the ark, opened it, and melted.
  • The TICKET was out at the Southwest Airlines Texas/OU plane pull yesterday.  Sometimes I really miss working at that place.
  • WifeGeeding and the kids will be in East Texas this weekend, time to throw another sick party at GeedingManor, or totally veg out and enjoy that thing call silence.
  • Because of how congressional districts are drawn, oh, nevermind.
  • Sammy Davis Jr and Jim Henson both died on the same day.  Is that bigger than Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson dying on the same day?
  • I like Oktoberfest costumes.
  • I’ve never been a fan of Lucy Liu but she’s won me over in ‘Elementary’.
  • ‘Parks and Rec’ – Sam Elliot was greatness and they had another forced Microsoft product placement.
  • When Letterman has Jack Hannah and his animals on it’s can’t miss television for me.
  • I find it interesting that original Mercury astronaut Scott Carpenter not only orbited the Earth but spent 28 days living on the ocean floor, now that’s exploration.

  • The last time I flew out of DFW I was wasting time at one of the gift shops and thought it was a bit strange and macabre they were selling JFK assassination postcards.

The Breaking Bad video everyone is giddy about this morning

When Stephen Colbert talked to Vince Gilligan about the song El Paso used in the season finale of Breaking Bad, he asked if Felina was Jesse or the blue meth, and Vince basically said Felina was the blue meth.. Viewed that way, the song El Paso matches up with not only the scene it was used in and the season finale, but the entire series. So I put the rest of it before and after the actual scene from the finale.

One-Man Militia Cleaning Up National Mall For Vets With Park Service Furloughed

You probably haven’t heard of the Memorial Militia.

It’s likely the group’s only member hadn’t heard of it before nine days ago.

Now, armed with a chainsaw and lawnmower, Chris Cox is on a one-man mission to clean up the National Mall as the Park Service employees normally tasked with keeping the area tidy sit idle during the shutdown of the federal government.

Cox, who resides in South Carolina, says he isn’t motivated by political reasons but feels obligated to help as veterans prepare to descend on the nation’s capital for this weekend’s Million Vet March.

Regardless of how many former service members actually attend the rally, Cox says making them presentable is just the right thing to do.

“These are our memorials. Do they think that we’re just going to let them go to hell? No,” Cox exclusively told All-News 99.1 reporter John Domen. “If they shut down our memorials, we’re still going to take the trash out, we’re going to clean the windows, we’re going to cut the grass, we’re going to pull the weeds, we’re going to do the tree work.”
