I got a scam phone call from the Dominican Republic at the ungodly hour of 4:00 AM.
I use to fear the late night phone call. My dad had a heart attack three days before my high school graduation and ever late night call in college made me take a deep breath before answering it. Of course, those were the days before caller ID.
About once a month WifeGeeding reminds me that her father said he will get any of his children out of jail once, after that, they are on their own. She said she’s been saving her’s up for a good one. I’m left to wonder if she can trade these ‘get out of jail’ chances with her siblings.
As someone who has never been to boot camp or basic training but is fascinated by it, I found this (pdf) How to Hack Basic paper pretty interesting.
Jay Carney sure has held the position of White House Press Secretary for two years and eight months. That’s a long time for that position, and as poor as he is at it, I’m surprised he’s lasted this long.
College basketball coach surprises walk-on with a full scholarship in front of his team – YouTube
This article about LeBron’s ability to play football is pretty interesting as it cites the views of three different NFL scouts and even though there’s video of LeBron just playing flag football, it really makes you wonder how good he could be on the football field. For comparison sake: Dez Bryant is 6′ 2″ and 222 lbs, Jason Witten is 6′ 6″ and 261 lbs, LeBron is 6′ 8″ and 250 lbs. Somewhat related, I always wondered what position Shaq would best at in football.
Hearing someone say “I have a quick question” annoys me. There’s no need to clarify or think that I’m being inconvenienced, just ask me the question.
I watched this weeks’ ‘Person of Interest’ and thought it was one of the best of the series.
This blog has allowed me to develop friendships from afar, and one of them happens to be a radio personality in Kansas City who was nice enough to mention my name and blog on the air.

GIFs are replacing short video segments which means advertising revenue is being lost because people aren’t subjected to a short commercial before a video. I expect to see many GIFs in the future have some sort of advertising in them, either a frame or two or an image or text at the bottom.
Speaking of GIFs, here’s an interesting article on the guy who captures most of the NFL GIFs and how he goes about doing so.
I’ve been in plenty of ‘heated’ discussions where I would replay the moment over and over in my head wishing I would have said such and such at the time. Recently I was in one of those discussions and I said exactly what I wanted to say, respectfully and to the point without being emotional or acting like an ass.
WifeGeeding was outside planting tulip bumps yesterday in jeans and a sweatshirt while that NFL offensive lineman neighbor of mine was mowing his lawn shirtless but in shorts.
I was reading a friend’s blog and he referenced a Bill Cosby quote that has stuck with me, “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.”
The funniest thing I’ve read about Bum Phillips, “He once told sportscaster Bob Costas that he took his wife on away games ‘because she’s too ugly to kiss goodbye.'”
Bud Adams and Art Modell both moved their teams out Houston and Cleveland because they couldn’t get backing for a new stadium, and yet both those cities built new stadiums for their new teams.
I have no idea where MSNBC or FOX News is located on my channel directory, but the Sprout channel for kids is 295.
I long for the days when Apple was innovated and introduced a new product to change our lives. Since Jobs passing, all they seem to do is update existing stuff.
