I didn’t believe DaughterGeeding when she told me the new student in her class is named “Mommy.” Well, it turns out the new student is an Asian girl in which her names phonetically sounds like “Mommy”, but of course it’s spelled different.
WifeGeeding and I are adamant about our kids using manners such as “yes ma’am” and “no sir” when speaking to adults. But we differ having them say that to us. She prefers it, but I feel it’s too formal to use for family. However, “yes, Dad” is preferable.

I also remember reading in the book Nuts! about a shareholder talking to Herb Kelleher concerned about how much lower their fairs were between Texas cities compared to the other airlines. Herb had to convince the shareholder Southwest wasn’t competing against the other airlines at the time but the business traveler willing to drive the distance.
