Your Bag of Nothing for Thursday, November 14, 2024

  • A photo that should have been taken four years ago instead of yesterday.
  • I told myself I was not going to be shocked or emotional about any of Trump’s cabinet picks because he pretty much has a mandate and won the popular vote, but…Matt Gaetz for Attorney General?! Wow. I thought Ken Paxton was a shoe-in for that position.
  • Trump made an interesting choice in picking Fox News Channel host Pete Hegseth to lead the Department of Defense. While promoting his recent book The War on Warriors (which Trump praised when announcing Hegseth as the nominee), Hegseth told a podcast host, “I’m straight up just saying we should not have women in combat roles.” I’m not saying that’s right or wrong, but I am saying the discourse about this is going to be interesting.
  • A lot of these people are younger than me. That’s an unique moment in one’s life.
  • I’ve wondered why certain Republicans of the past haven’t worked with Trump before. Mike Huckabee was one, but he’ll now be our Ambassador to Israel. I wonder if Bobby Jindal or Sarah Palin will end up working for him in some fashion. I wonder if Rick Santorum or Michele Bachmann will be mentioned for anything. Allen Keys may be retired, but Allen West enjoys the limelight. I’m not a fan of any of these folks, but don’t understand why they are on the sidelines.
  • There should be a single punctuation mark that combines the question mark and exclamation point, to the point it’s common practice to use and is on they keyboard.
  • If Jerry refuses to put curtains up, the only option for the coaching staff is to use the sun to their advantage with timing routes and practicing at specific sunsetting times at the stadium. I know the sun is blinding both teams, but at this point, all you can do is get your players accustomed to it so that they are more comfortable with the defect than the opposing team.
