  • “I am not what I think I am, and I am not what you think I am. I am what I think you think I am.”
  • I’m impressed by the professional achievements of some of the women I’ve gone on dates with. The latest one is a published author of three books, started her own business, and is a booked speaker.
  • I’ve never pawned anything. I think I understand the concept – you get cash in exchange for an item with the understanding that you can buy it back later, but you risk someone else being able to purchase the item between the time you take the cash and pay it fully back. I could look it up, but I’m looking for material to fill today’s post.
  • I’m not sure if it’s common for parents-in-law to write letters to the spouse of their children. When I was married, this (Dropbox PDF) was the only letter I received from my father-in-law. He wanted us to understand that any property he owned would be passed down to his children as separate property, and even attached an article on how it’s Texas law. It’s interesting that he states he doesn’t own his home and it’s solely in his wife’s name as it was a gift from her parents. It must be nice not to have to worry about a mortgage payment and make it easy to save for college so they can attend a certain private Baptist institution of higher learning. I just never liked it that they claimed they roughed it and made sacrifices when generational wealth played a huge role. It’s also interesting that he misspelled his wife’s name using a “y” instead of an “i”. I suppose people have received worse letters from their in-laws. But hey, at least he sent the letter out of love.
  • I got along with my father-in-law for the most part, but he did have a lot of hot opinions. In the last conversation I had with him, he was telling me how the black man would always be a burden to the white man. Then he elaborated on how he didn’t mind interracial marriage because white women were breeding the black out of the blacks. I always thought that was an interesting point to make to his half-Asian son-in-law.
