Bag of Randomness for Tuesday, September 26, 2017

  • I’m not complaining, but BoyGeeding has been on this “good boy” streak lately. For instance, yesterday after dinner he started to empty all the trash from inside the house into the garbage bin outside. He said he wanted to do it ahead of time. Trash day isn’t until Wednesday.
  • The new Star Trek honored TNG with this cool easter egg.
  • Hyundai has ruined “Sweet Caroline” for me with the excessive playing of their commercial.
  • I noticed one of the hosts for ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” was wearing an ascot. I’m sorry, but only one person has successfully been able to pull off the ascot.
  • You have no idea how big of a deal this is back in Westeros.
  • That time in 1989 Jerry Jones was too enamored with Elizabeth Taylor to stand for the national anthem.
  • Dale Hansen’s latest Unplugged, as you would have guessed, is about taking a knee.
  • Steelers’ Villanueva: I threw teammates ‘under the bus’ during national anthem
    • “Every single time I see that picture of me standing by myself, I feel embarrassed.”
    • “Unfortunately, I threw (my teammates) under the bus, unintentionally,” Villanueva said. “I made Coach Tomlin look bad, and that is my fault and my fault only. I made my teammates look bad, and that is my fault.”
      • I don’t think it’s mentioned in the article but his jersey is now the top-selling jersey. After this statement, which I’m not condoning or condemning, I wonder how many want a refund.
  • The cutest Wolverine you may ever see.
  • I thought it was a joke when I heard President Trump called into the “Rick and Bubba” radio show in Alabama. But it’s true, he even did a radio liner for them after the hosts asked in a very polite and respectful manner.
  • Per CBS News, North Korean pilots get as little as 10 hours of flying per year. Per Wikipedia, “It possesses 940 aircraft of different types; mostly of old Soviet and Chinese origin.”
  • The worst single play in his entire life – @AdamSchefterEagles RB Darren Sproles tore his ACL and broke his arm on same play, sources tell @mortreport and me. Surgery on arm today, knee later.
  • I spotted this car in the parking lot of our flag football field.
  • Later in the day, I spotted this car.
  • Rep. Gohmert: John McCain should be recalled during cancer treatment
  • A few more thoughts and tidbits from my book about the relationships amongst presidents:
    • The song played during this dance between President Ford and Queen Elizabeth was “The Lady is a Tramp”. Ford got a kick out of telling that story.
    • Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were both born in 1946, just 44 days apart.
    • The book goes into a little detail of the awkwardness of Governor Jeb Bush of Florida and Governor George W. Bush visiting the Whitehouse for a governors meeting with then-President Clinton. Jeb was able to put feelings aside meeting with the man who put their father out of a job and was very engaging, but it was a lot harder for W. The authors also state perhaps Jeb was just a better actor. But Clinton was totally understanding.
  • I thought Fox4’s Mike Doocy’s social experiment on Sunday was pretty cool.
