  • The Golden Globes was on last night but CBS went ahead and ran new episodes of their primetime dramas. I always thought that was a no-no, that they would get killed in the ratings and it shows respect for the industry and those on your network who are up for awards. But then again, I don’t think the network had anyone up for an award.
  • I love me some Sherlock Holmes, but even I thought it was strange that CBS and PBS were both airing new episodes of the character at the same time.
  • You should have seen how giddy WifeGeeding was after every La La Land win. I still think Anna Kendrick would have been a better choice for the role that went to Emma Stone. But I’m willing to bet Emma Stone is a better kisser.
  • A bit of a funny moment no one may have noticed during Meryl Streep’s speech in which she referenced Trump was the camera panned to the actors who play Russian spies in ‘The American’s’ clapping.
  • Meryl Streep will be referenced over 500 times on Fox News this morning, all before lunch. Many folks are going to be upset about a Hollywood star “lecturing them”, but those folks probably voted for a reality television show star and businessman for president who “lectures” quite often.
  • In 1989, the Golden Globes’ Best Actress in a Motion Picture- Drama race was a three-way tie between Jodie Foster, Sigourney Weaver, and Shirley MacLaine. Weaver actually won two Globes that year for Gorillas in the Mist and Working Girl.
  • Something for the fans of NBC’s ‘The Office – The Office Stare Machine – Type in an emotion and it will play related clips of a character looking into the camera. That site is the sister of The Office Time Machine which takes the 1,300 cultural references made and places them in an interactive time machine.
  • There’s a bit of debate about where the paperclip was invented, but this patent states it was in Mineral Wells, Texas.
  • I can’t recall if I’ve posted this or not, but when the kids saw on the news that our neighbor who plays for our local NFL franchise received a John Deere crossover utility vehicle from the starting rookie running back, they went over and asked if they could have a ride on it. He told them he would if he had it at the house, but he hasn’t brought it home and actually doesn’t have anywhere to put it.
  • The last time Joe Buck and Troy Aikman did a Green Bay game, Bob Sturm of The TICKET got to chill with them in the broadcast booth. Bob’s segment on it was quite interesting, but one non-booth related item that caught my attention was when Aikman revealed if he wanted to, he could fly home and catch the end of the second afternoon game.
  • I had zero intention in watching HBO’s special on Debbie Reynold and her daughter Carrie Fisher, but I caught a few minutes and then was sucked in. I think it was supposed to air in the spring but they moved it up because of their deaths. It was more “behind the scenes” and revealing than I thought.
    • Fisher smoked a lot and drank a lot of Coca-Cola, and not the diet kind. They showed how Lucus Film had a trainer come to her house and he would pour all the Coke down the drain, only for her assistant to fill up the fridge after he left. She also stated how Lucus Film would have him report her weight and measurements.
    • Debbie fell in her bathroom and you see her very badly bruised face. She was also in poorer health than what the public was lead to believe, pushing herself to work Vegas despite barely having the stamina to do so. They even showed her zooming around on a motorized scooter in a Vegas casino unnoticed. When she was honored with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award it was very touch and go if she could attend. They were making arrangements for her to have an area to lie down at the dinner, and Carrie was crying about how her mother probably couldn’t attend.
    • Eddie Fisher (Debbie’s first husband and Carrie’s father) was basically on his death bed looking horribly fragile. That scene was filmed back in 2010, I think.
  • I love it that Carrie Fisher’s ashes were put in a Prozac pill. If you knew her personality, it was so her.
  • GIF – Today’s dose of ‘MURICA! (don’t click if you are offended by a woman lifting heavy weights in athletic attire)
  • The hottest pizza girl of all time delivered our pizza last night. She was so attractive I thought there was a camera crew hidden somewhere trying to capture my reaction.
  • Pet deer named after Bambi character shot dead in front of US family in their driveway – Wardens arrive to say keeping ‘Faline‘ the deer as a pet is illegal, then shoot the animal five times minutes later
