  • Man, Orlando really had a rough weekend.
  • The Letterman interview on NBC that I was looking forward to will be broadcast at a later time because of the mass shooting. Similar, the U2 concert I was looking forward to watching was aired at a later time because of the mass shooting in Paris.
  • I was at the grocery store looking to buy a new pair of tweezers. A young woman wearing a Joe’s Crab Shack shirt walked up and stood next to me, pick up some Summer’s Eve feminine deodorant spray, sprayed a decent amount of it in the air, loudly sniffed it, and then said, “Mom, I don’t want my hoochie to smell like that.”
  • I keep hearing rumors that Art Briles will be reinstated at Baylor, and that’s one reason the staff has mainly stayed in place, especially his family that’s on staff.
  • Scattershooting the other day wondering what’s happened to Barbara Mandrell, I used to watch her and her sisters’ show with my folks. Random Barbara Mandrell fact – Mandrell was the first performer to win the Country Music Association’s “Entertainer of the Year” award twice. She was the only female to have done so until Taylor Swift equaled her.

    • The judge even got in on that act by dressing up as Snow White.
    • I think all men universally agree that Snow White is the least attractive and desirable. Some prefer Jasmin, but she’s not modest enough for me. Yet others like Ariel, but there’s just something fishy about her. I’ll go with Belle every time, and “Belle” is one of WifeGeeding’s nicknames.
      • I also call her “Toots”, and in all seriousness, I call her mother “Mamma Toots”. I phoned WifeGeeding at her parents’ house once and her mother picked up. Thinking it was WifeGeeding, I said, “Hey Toots” and her mother replied jokingly, and I said, “Oh, this ain’t Toots, it’s Mama Toots” and it’s stuck.
  • I really appreciate this pizza delivery man’s dedication despite being in a crime scene.
  • The Ticket pulls in best ratings in radio station’s 22-year history
    • Catlin said the four shows in the Ticket’s weekday lineup each posted their best month ever in the all-important demographic of men 25-54. All four were tops in the market in the demographic up and down the radio dials regardless of format.
  • I finally watched Jurassic World and really enjoyed it, especially finding all the hat-tips to the original movie. As with almost every movie I’ll watch, I’ll check out the IMDB trivia page, and the most interesting thing I found was that Jimmy Buffett had a cameo.
    • A running tourist, appropriately carrying two margaritas. A branch of his “Margaritaville” restaurant chain can be seen on the Jurassic World “City Walk”.
    • Here’s an article with a GIF of his brief cameo.
      • I don’t listen to a lot of Buffett’s music and I don’t go to many concerts, but it seems like attending one of his concerts would be a blast, if anything, just watching his fanbase.
  • Lonely Trump fans start their own dating site after they’re rejected on OK Cupid
  • EW – The Dixie Chicks kicked off the American leg of their MMXVI world tour last week on a, shall we say, memorable note.

  • The NBC News television music package is named “The Mission” and was composed by the great John Williams.  The music for breaking news and ‘Meet the Press’ is called “The Pulse of Events” or “The Mission Forth Part”. The music for ‘Today’ is called “Scherzo for Today” or “The Mission Second Part”.
  • What Happened to the Dream of Underground Cities? – There’s a large focus on the underground tunnels in Dallas.

My office is in a building that is connected to the Dallas tunnels. Just like the article said – from morning through about 2 p.m., it's bustling. After that, it can get a little creepy. But it's a fantastic benefit to have. When it's raining or 100° outside, it's wonderful to just run downstairs and have access to lunch (or Starbucks). I know the city officials would love for downtown to look like NYC, so they periodically try to shut down the tunnels and force people onto the streets. But those proposals always draw a lot of anger and outrage, at least from the folks in my building.

I am super impressed with Baylor's dedication to continuing to make the situation worse.
