  • Miss Teen Frisco visited BoyGeeding’s preschool class to read a book. She asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up, and he said, “A candy taster.”
  • BoyGeeding also likes to wave at the trashmen when the come by. Yesterday one got out of his truck and gave him a package. Inside was toy garbage truck.
  • I bought a chainsaw pole tree trimmer as a way to save money and time trimming trees. I got carried away with all the tree trimming and now I have a plethora of limbs and branches sitting next to the house. I’m regretting the purchase of that tool, and at this point, would have rather paid to have the trees trimmed and all the stuff hauled off.
  • Adjusting to my new project has been more difficult than I thought, though in the long-term it seems to be better for my career. It also came with a change of job title and responsibilities, and more of a leadership role where I’m having to play a bit of politics and delegate responsibilities, which is harder than I thought. There’s no increase in pay, but I’m not complaining. I’m thankful to still be employed, work from home, and continue the great work/life balance.
  • The last two nights I’ve woken up at 4:30 AM and couldn’t go back to sleep.
  • I keep putting off the finishing touches on the newly tiled laundry room.
  • GIF – Golf bowling
  • I’m aware that the Russian return space capsule is similar to what the U.S. used before the shuttle, but I thought the bottom of the capsule, the heat shield, took most of the damage. But this image released from astronaut Scott Kelly’s return to Earth shows the sides get really charred as well.  Here’s an image of Apollo 11 floating at sea after re-entry. It’s beaten up, but not charred on the sides.
  • I’d like to see a remake of Brewster’s Millions with either Chris Rock of Kevin Hart.

  1. John Mackovic says:

They've got one of those Apollo capsules at the Frontiers of Flight Museum down at Love Field

  2. Jason H.G. Truitt says:

    Aggies voted for Sanders. Funny.

    Trump won S.Texas counties? Odd.

I love my pole saw and my Stihl. But I live in a virtual forest, so I have a need to trim trees more often, I bet. And several of the ones that needed the most trimming were oaks, so I have a good supply of firewood and BBQ wood. When my wife sees me walking through the yard with a chain saw, she comes running to make sure I don't get out of hand. Or maybe to see what my last words are when I climb 20' into a tree to use a chain saw. She thinks it's going to be something like "I love you". I bet it's going to be "OH SHIIIIIIiiiii…."

  3. Mr. Mike Honcho says:

Brewsters Millions – One of my favorite movies!!! Would love to see a remake.

Charred Capsules – Soyuz has a different shape where the angle of the sides isn't as severe as the Apollo Design. It means a lot more of the plasma hits the side vs Apollo. That being said, google some images for Apollo reentry and you will see some spacecraft that were "charred" more than others. Also of note: The new Orion spacecraft is similar in shape to Apollo, but larger.

  4. RPM says:

Like Mike Honcho said, the Apollo design takes less punishment by the design of the capsule. It's cone shape is less prone to scorching from the plasma vs the ball shape of the Soyuz. The heat shield takes the brunt of the punishment on both, but the sides still get scorched.

I haven't seen one that's been in space, but I did get a close look at an Apollo test capsule at Meteor Crater in Arizona.
