  • If my father was alive, we certainly would have watched the All-Star Game together that took place in his native Cincinnati.  But since he wasn’t around, his granddaughter was nice enough to watch the first few innings before bedtime, even though she expressed her preferred viewing choice was for something animated.
  • While we were reading bedtime stories we kept hearing a lot of honking outside the window as if someone was trying to get our attention.  It turns out it was nothing but an NFL lineman working under the hood of his dually.
  • The BagOfNothing community isn’t very big at all, but I really like it and thankful for those who comment and how they keep things jovial and respectful.  It’s been a goal to create a positive community, but also one in which we can disagree and learn from other points of view.  Not everyone agrees, but most disagreements here are constructive and provide insight.  Seriously, I appreciate it, and a lot of times you make my day.
  • Speaking of this website, the domain name and hosting services expire on August 11, and I keep forgetting to renew it.  It’s one of those things I keep telling myself I’ll get around to but keep putting it on the backburner.
  • I took our little fur-children to get their scheduled vaccinations and a check-up.  DaughterGeeding tagged along.  When I last took her she was just a little over two years of age and it was a bit of a hindrance.  But now, she’s reached that age of being more helpful than a hindrance.  Perhaps “hindrance” is too harsh a word, but you get my drift.
  • OtherDogGeeding, for the past four years, has had a fatty cyst on his stomach that has grown bigger and bigger.  Each year the vet assures me it’s nothing but fat and there’s no reason for concern, and each year she takes a biopsy of it and examines it.  Thankfully each year it turns out to be nothing.  I really like our vet.  There’s plenty of them nearby, but I don’t mind driving over half an hour for the quality of service we receive.
  • My manager has his team updated our resumes once a year so if he needs a current version for a proposal bid on a new contract, they are ready to go.  While looking at mine, I noticed my MBA graduation date was off by two years, as if it took my five years to complete it instead of two-and-a-half.  This made me research all past copies of my resume to see how long I’ve made this mistake.  It looks like I goofed way back in 2009 and never caught it through cut and pasting and modifying new ones.
  • I miss the T-Mobile girl and all her cute dresses. But if she every got into a fight with the AT&T girl, I have a feeling the AT&T girl would tear her apart.

  • Fort Worth billionaire Sid Bass makes ‘significant’ investment to bring back Blue Bell – The last sentence in the article stood out to me, I thought they’d be hurting more – PrivCo estimates that Blue Bell Creamery had $680 million in revenue last year, up sharply from $620.7 million the previous year. He estimates revenue this year could be as low as $500 million, based largely on the strength of the first quarter.
  • When Stan Lee dies, I bet there will still be Stan Lee cameos in Marvel super-hero movies, similar to how Alfred Hitchcock did his Lifeboat cameo.
  • Taipei News – Man sells car after unsuccessful search for snake in vehicle – This sorta reminds me of the ‘Seinfeld’ episode in which he couldn’t get the smell out of his BMW and ended up just tossing the keys to a homeless man who also couldn’t stand the smell.

  1. Charles Brown says:

Thanks for the community you've established here, Geeding. Today, I happened to be reading a post from another blogger, Richard Beck, and he mentioned a book named Living into Community: Cultivating Practices That Sustain Us by Christine Pohl.

Beck writes, "in the book Christine works through four practices that sustain vibrant Christian communities. The four practices are gratitude, promise-keeping, truth-telling and hospitality."

Those characteristics seem to be universal, and although I don't see that there's a big opportunity for promise-keeping between BON and its readers, the gratitude, truth-telling and hospitality are certainly there!

    Keep on, keepin' on!

Your live traffic feed implies a great number of readers??? I have had a blog for about 4 months and average 1 reader a day. 🙁 Any suggestions?

Aaaaaand we'll be vacationing about 2 miles form where that Great White was beached in about 3 weeks. Looks like we'll be going mainly bayside…

  4. John Mackovic says:

    – It's a small world, I know that park in Taiwan mentioned in the article and driven past there a few times.
    – You better renew this domain or somebody else will snatch it up and we'll be seeing posts from DF Geeding.

I appreciate your blog almost daily. I do thank you for "slapping me down" a few years ago and banning me from commenting because I was too antagonistic. You have taught me to be less aggressive in my comments.

I now save the aggressive posts for the Wise County Blog master.

I also enjoy the stories of the KidGeedings. Reminds me of my own kids and grandkids.

    Keep it up.
