We've been there. The landings make for great pictures, but the coolest experience is when the big jets take off. They start just on the other side of the fence you see and will actually blow adults over if they aren't braced and ready.
Maho Beach is fantastic. My wife and I went there during a cruise and got some pictures. If you like airplanes, it's a must-see. There's also a gorgeous clothing-optional beach called Orient Beach on the other side of the island.
