I mentioned that the city came out to look at my water bill because they noticed I was using drastically less water than everyone else in the area, and my water usage from the last bill I think was only about five bucks. Yesterday I awoke to low water pressure and I tracked it down to a busted sprinkler pipe in the front yard that was gushing water up from the ground. Any savings I made from last month will be negated from this snafu.
I cracked open an egg yesterday, and I think that’s the first time I’ve done that in over a decade as I’ve only used Egg Beaters. DaughterGeeding’s class is in need of some egg cartons for Easter and so I thought I’d chip in by buying some actually egss.
Lately I feel like I’ve kept my guard up around my family, that I’m refusing to let loose, and that disappoints me and I can’t figure out why I do it.
This email thing isn’t going to bring Hillary Clinton down, but that was a lackluster excuse she made stating it was for convenience and that she didn’t want to carry around two cell phones. It’s quite simple to access multiple email accounts on one mobile device.
Last night Jon Stewart brilliant roasted Democrats and Republicans for being hypocrites depending on who is in power. I’m gonna miss that guy. Our political parties so closely resemble each other it’s scary.

I don’t fly often, but for those of you that do, you might enjoy SeatGuro.com. It’s fully of surprising data about seats on a plane, like little undesirable quirks such as misaligned windows, narrower widths, proximity to the lavatory, and all sorts of other stuff. If companies do a simple Internet search before hiring a job applicant, I wonder how tough it would be for Parker Rice and Levi Pettit to get job in four years. It must be a devastating situation for a parent to be in. One of the parents is a commercial Realtor, and serves on the boards of the Town North YMCA and North Dallas Chamber Baseball League – I wonder how much the sins of the son will affect his business and standing in the community.
I love Dirk, but I’m afraid it’s time to put a fork in him. There’s no way he’s just “saving it for the playoffs.”

I'm pretty sure the kids didn't decide being overtly racist was OK all by themselves. That is learned behavior. I believe their parents pleas of innocence as much as I believe the SAE housemom that was caught on Vine.
We also need to remember that in all of our youths we did things that did not reflect who we really were then, or who we would become. Might the guys on the bus be racist? Yep, I am quite sure that some of them are. On the other hand, I would be willing to be that most aren't racist, they just haven't yet developed the character to stand up to evil when they see it. Sure, some of them were taught to be racist by their family or circumstances. However, I would be that most people on that bus weren't taught that. Their parents just didn't adequately model for them how they should stand up and defend others against evil, even when it isn't 'safe' for them to do so.

I also thought Lewis Black's tirade was one of the funniest he's ever done. When he got to the part about McDonald's no longer purchasing poultry treated with antibiotics being tantamount to denying chickens healthcare coverage, I was laughing out loud and he still had good material left.
Strange that the two OU students went to very prestigious, high-powered academic high schools; ended up at OU; and were the only two fraternity members identified. Considering the tuition costs at Jesuit, this has to be one of the biggest black eyes to their image they have ever suffered.

I remember trying to sneak into Event Horizon as a kid with my cousins, but they didn't believe that I was 17. (I wasn't.) So I had to see My Best Friend's Wedding instead. And then when we got picked up, my aunt told us Princess Diana had died. <— it's probably the only reason I know where that pic is from.
I'll just say this. In the early 90's in my fraternity at Oklahoma State, we never sang any racist songs, but we sang some that were more than sexist, they were downright awful. And if somebody had been videotaping a bonfire or event where we sang one of those songs, I feel confident that some of us would have been in big trouble. We weren't singing those songs because any of us seriously believed in sexual assault or anything anywhere near it, it was just what everyone else was doing, and we were 18-19 year olds trying to fit in and be accepted. Having said that, there are some fraternities, like SAE and Kappa Alpha Order, with deep southern, racist traditions, and I certainly don't believe the national office when they say they were unaware of songs like this. Regardless, it's time for the greek system to grow up or die off.
