Bag of Randomness

  • Per presidential historian Michael Beschloss, that’s JFK  and his son at Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans Day just eleven days before his death.  He was visiting his future resting place and didn’t even know it.
  • If you want to be technical, this was taken on Armistice Day, which actually became Veterans Day in 1971, or 1978, depending on what factors you want to consider (check out the last two paragraphs).
  • I found some Coca-Cola Life at our local grocery story yesterday.  They were pretty easy to spot since they are in a green can.  It’s suppose to have 35% fewer calories than the regular stuff since it’s made with cane sugar and stevia.  I really can’t stand the taste of diet drinks because of a strange aftertaste, and this one has it, but it’s not as strong.  Overall, I doubt I’ll buy it again but if I was offered it at a party or something,  I’d drink it.
  • I think it’s an early Christmas present for me – I’ve always wanted to attend a game at the University of Texas and WifeGeeding got me some tickets for the Thanksgiving day game.  I’m sure TCU will blow them out and we’ll probably end of leaving at the end of the third quarter, but this should be fun.  I have to admit I get a bit of anxiety when it comes to buying tickets for things – there’s this fear of commitment, letdown, and I always fear getting sick.
  • While watching Tom and Jerry with the kids I asked them who was the good guy and who was the bad guy.  They both said neither one of them were bad.  WifeGeeding thought both were bad guys.  As a kid I always thought Tom was the bad guy and Jerry the good guy, but as an adult I just see Jerry doing what he can to get food and Tom trying to protect his house from rodents.
  • Tower Bridge in London now has a glass floor walkway.
  • Ted Cruz’s comments about net neutrality shows he’s ignorant on the subject.  This is just another case of if the opposition is for it, he’s gotta be against it.

Weird things happen on Thanksgiving in college football.

  2. Fake Judge Willett says:

Thanksgiving used to be a fantastic game with UT v. A&M. Hopefully the rivaly will come back, like Baylor v. TCU has. Games in Austin are fun. I was once the only person standing and clapping in the entire upper deck when Baylor went up 10-0 early in the game, back when Baylor was still awful and UT was still good. We ended up getting stomped, but for a few plays I got to annoy a few thousand UT students.

Agreed on the Cruz comment. I tend to be conservative on many topics, but Republican determination to protect markets where there is little competition (like high speed internet) is really annoying. If you don't like the president's idea then offer a better one.
