  • I always enjoyed listening to the Car Talk guys on Saturday morning so it was sad to hear the passing of Tom Magliozzi.  It always cracked me up how these guys who sounded like bozos where MIT grads and professors.  He died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease.  Respectfully, I only thought that disease was related to memory loss, so I’m not sure how one can die from it.  I also thought there website would mostly be dedicated to his passing, but it was rather nondescript at the time of this posting.  The best tweet I saw about his passing was from a fan that said something to the effect of, “Mourners can pay your respects at the Will Diggum and Barry M. Deep Funeral Home and the estate will be handled by the law firm Dewey Cheatum and Howe.”
  • Chris Rock may have said it best during his SNL monologue – Jesus was the least materialistic human in history, yet the celebration of his birth is the most materialistic event in history.  That came to mind watching all these Christmas commercials yesterday.
  • For Halloween next year, I might just go Christmas caroling instead of trick-or-treating with the kids just to beat everyone to the punch.  Actually, I’d still be trailing a lot of businesses as I saw some Christmas stuff go up after the back to school sales stopped.

" … so it was sad to hear the passing of Tom Magliozzi".

I've listened to the show for decades and admired them for having so much fun together and that they were not just brothers, but also best friends. Tom's illness must be the reason they stopped doing new programs back in 2012. I hope they will continue to broadcast the re-purposed shows every week.

Hey G. most people with Alzheimers die of pneumonia and then UTIs as the second leading cause.

There was a very touching tribute program to Tom Magliozzi by Fresh Air: http://www.npr.org/2014/11/04/361408028/-we-have-
My kids and I LOVE Car Talk. When I picked up my daughter from school I was about to tell her but, just then, they starting talking about it on NPR so I just told her to listen. It broke my heart to have her hear it that way. She was genuinely sad the rest of the trip home…as was I.
