  • The jury duty fairy put a summons in my mailbox yesterday.  I’ll be reporting on July 3.  This is only the second time I’ve received such mail.
  • I caught a PBS special on the State Opening of Parliament and one thing stood out, the uniforms for some of the folks around the Queen.  It was stated that those uniforms are used only once a year, are so old that there are names on them that date back to 1901, each are individually worth over $14,000, and they have to find people that actually fit the uniform as opposed to created a new one.

  • It appears that the Wise County Blogging Lawyer has switched back to jogging from the XBox workouts.
  • There was an article about a leaked video of President Obama working out and it stated he was staying in the presidential suite that was on the 40th floor, which I don’t think is true.  I’m no expert, but I’ve read two different Secret Service books (book1, book2) and each stated the president would never stay higher than the fourth floor in any hotel, which is the highest a fire truck can reach in case of an emergency.
  • I’d like to see some leaked video of Chris Christie working out.
  • I was quite surprised at how roomy and nice my aunt’s RV is, I had no idea they could be so comfy.  During her visit, I was shocked to learn my father was a step-father for a while to two teenage children.  I was also told my grandfather had a pet parakeet named Prettyboy.  That’s notable to me because I use to tease one of my best friends for naming his parakeet Prettyboy.  Oh, and I’ve learned I have some Native American and Dutch German ancestry.  So Rev Hart, we could be brothers, and brothers don’t shake hands, brothers gotta hug.
  • The Hardline was talking about the median age of living people with certain names yesterday.  From what I can remember, Margaret was  82, George was 59, and Liam was 3.
  • I have a feeling for whatever reason Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl left his post, he’s got a whole bunch of regret, and even if he genuinely apologies and admits wrongs, there’s still gonna be a plethora of folks that will never forgive him.  I’m not saying the swap was justified, but that Bergdahl regrets leaving for whatever reason he did.
  • Our local Garden Ridge appears to be changing into a place called At Home.
  • There was a Rikki-Tikki-Tavi reference on Letterman last night.  I loved that cartoon as a kid, and you can watch all 24-minutes of it here.

    Prettyboy is birdspeak for Steve.

As I recall RTT was a Chuck Jones joint. I never liked his style as an animator. It's hard to describe, but his work just seemed lacking compared to Fred Quimby, Fritz Freleng or Tex Avery. His Tom & Jerry are a great example of this. Don't get me started on what he did to Looney Tunes. RTT was one of the rare occasions where I had actually read the original before I saw the movie, so this was my first experience with that letdown as well. Great story, though. I loved reading Kipling as a kid.

Armrest? Yes, please! Can we make them mandatory on every plane?

Bergdahl will likely get a court-martial under Article 85. I support getting him back, but the guy is definitely not a hero.

    You’re Dutch?? I knew there was a reason I liked you! 🙂
