My gosh, each episode of ‘Silicon Valley’ on HBO just gets better and funnier.
We ate at Five Guys on Saturday and started to munch on peanuts while our food was cooking. DaughterGeeding kept asking me to crack them open for her, and then I showed her the trick of using two peanuts shells against each other and she was amazed how easy it was for her to do it. It was a real special father/daughter moment, one I think she’ll remember for the rest of her life, and one I’ll cherish more than she can imagine.
While we were eating one family was leaving and the mother stopped at our table to tell us she was impressed at how well behaved our children were. Lady, I appreciate the kind words, but you caught us on a good day.
On Mother’s Day DaughterGeeding and WifeGeeding were walking the dogs and the little one had her first experience with the ice cream truck coming down the street. She ran as fast as she could home to get some money from me and run back outside it was just another really sweet moment.
WifeGeeding did have to step up on Mother’s Day as BoyGeeding was sick with a fever. Most of the time he’s just a mamma’s boy, when he’s sick, he’s only a mamma’s boy no matter how I try to help.
Perhaps I’ll see things differently as my kids get older, but when I’m at the mall and the my kids are in the play area, I’m really annoyed at the parents that allow their kids who are well over the 42-inch height requirement run all over the place.
WifeGeeding thought it was worth a risk to take the in-potty-training BoyGeeding to the mall without a diaper. He proved her wrong in the most foul and runny way.
While walking through our local dilapidated mall, all I could think of were stores you no longer see in or by any mall such as Mervyns, Chess King, Babbages, Service Merchandise, Montgomery Ward, J Riggins, and Coach House Gifts since I use to work there.
I ordered something off of Woot late last week and it was actually delivered on Sunday by the USPS which surprised me. Actually, it was a robotic sweeper/mopper which totally stoked WifeGeeding.
Without actually looking up anything, it sounds like Baylor had the most players drafted of all the Big XII schools, which is a huge benchmark for how far that program has come.
It was funny listening to University of Texas fans grieving over the fact that not one Longhorn was drafted, that hasn’t happened since 1937 and a record tied with Notre Dame. Some were trying to stretch things and claim that Garrett Gilbert should count since he actually graduated and played for Texas even though the majority of his college football achievements were at SMU. Others held out hope for the future since three of Charlie Strong’s players from Louisville were drafted in the first round. I’m a bit surprised that Jim Jeffcoat’s son, Jackson Jeffcoat, wasn’t drafted at all. He did sign as a free agent to the Seahawks, which seems like a pretty good deal, but I’m also a bit surprised that with his father’s personal connections to the Cowboys’ head coach and owner, and growing up in the area, that the club didn’t sign him.
The Cowboys drafted Baylor safety Ahmad Dixon. You can bet the farm two things will happen by the end of his first two years in the league. He’ll be fined for a dirty hit and he’ll be arrested or police will be called to the scene for something he was involved in. However, all fans will forgive with good play on the field. Jerry continues to not care about character in player selection.
I wonder how many NFL draftees are really happy being drafted for the team they were drafted by. I’m sure the money helps them cope.
I had high hopes for ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ but for most of the season it’s really been subpar. However, I stuck with it and the last four or so episodes have really picked it up.
I’m not sure anyone could get me up in a hot air balloon.

Potato Flats (Trinity Groves) – Basically it’s a Chipotle with flattened baked potatoes. To be honest, I had this idea of something similar, but it was with shepherd pie. You’d start off with choosing your meat like ground beef, turkey, chicken, then choose a gravy, veggies, and top it off with mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, or a healthier cauliflower and potato mix.
The Day Tripper’s latest venture was Abilene. Since I lived there during my collegiate years I thought it was worth watching. I was really surprised he didn’t visit the Paramount Theater, but wasn’t surprised that the three major universities were only briefly mentioned with no segments.
I had no idea there was an old nuclear missile silo in the area, much less that you could scuba dive in it. And I had no idea there was a famed candy company in town call Candies by Vletas.

Speaking of mobile phones, I couldn’t find mine at bedtime the other night. My smartwatch gives me an option to locate my phone, so I decided to give it a try. It turns out that the watch not only triggers the phone to ring, but it makes the camera flash go on and off until as well, which made finding it pretty easy.
Two quick ‘Mad Men’ thoughts that aren’t really spoilers: 1) I totally didn’t guess that was in the box and 2) a $1,000 in 1969 is worth $6,428 today per the inflation calculator.

Make a hot air balloon trip for sure. We went over the Grand Teton mountains for our anniversary. It was amazingly quiet -dead quiet- and breathtaking. It is one neat experience: beforehand, while they inflate the balloon, to it rising up, loading the basket, visiting with the pilot as he adjusts the propane burners for lift or fall, to descending toward earth and just brushing the grass below you without stopping! Wow a must do. You get so caught up in it, that you won't want to come back to reality.
