Again with the deleted comments? I have been playing nice for over a year. I actually had some very good advice, but you don't seem to want it.

I'm sorry that happened, Larry, but I didn't delete any comments. I've been getting a ton of spam comments as of late and installed a plugin and put it a high setting to help filter stuff out and your comment may have somehow been a victim.

There was a local case of a retirement-age murderer hiding in plain sight…and the weird/scary thing is, I knew him – sort of. He was a busker who played saxophone at the Embarcadero BART station – a downtown San Francisco train station. For about 1-1/2 years, I exited through that station and walked right past him. I thought of him as being very grandfatherly – always wore his porkpie hat and gave a very non-threatening finger-wave (as opposed to a whole-hand wave) when he saw me.

His music put me in a good mood as I walked to work. On occasion, I'd drop $5 in his sax case, and a few times over the holidays, I'd even drop in 20s. I wanted to acknowledge the fact that he was actually contributing something to us commuters, rather than just holding out a hand.

Sometimes, when I went in early, we'd even ride the same train together and would nod at each other as we exited the train. Others talked to him, but I preferred to keep my anonymity.

I was SHOCKED a couple years after leaving that job to learn that he'd been arrested – and was later convicted – of brutally murdering his wife 25 years before – and that he was caught because he committed identity theft against (as I recall) his ex-girlfriend's son. Sheesh – giving $ to a murderer – cheerfully. I am apparently not a great judge of character.

I apologize for the harshness. I was probably a victim as you have explained in today's blog. My comment was to watch that cholesterol measurement. I was near 200 for most of my adult life and then the standards were lowered to 175. I chalked it up to pharmacy marketing to sell more drugs. After the four stints were placed last December (at the age of 54 years), I started to rethink my cholesterol levels. And I do not smoke, never have. Just a word of advice.
