- I don’t think the continuation of ‘Dallas’ is all that good, but I watch it for the nostalgia and because I can see some local stuff. Some thoughts on last night’s episode:
- How fitting was it for Barry Corbin, another actor whose current resident is Weatherford, TX, the hometown of Larry Hagman, to read J.R.’s will. I loved Corbin in “Northern Exposure” as retired astronaut Maurice Minnifield, who would have made a great father to Ron Swanson.
- It was quite interesting that Miss Ellie spoke from the grave, albeit a letter.
- I always thought J.R. was a Jr, I didn’t realize he was actually John Ross Ewing II.
- I think the new Clyde Warren Park made an appearance.
- The previews for next week makes it look like Dallas is on the coast, like Houston.
- Brad Watson is leaving WFAA after 34-years. When I heard the news, I actually thought he left to go to a conservative think tank or to help run the campaign for a Republican.
- Two men in wingsuits got a lot of attention when they flew between two buildings in Rio. I’d be more impressed if they were in Dallas and few through the keyhole in the JP Morgan Chase Building. I’ve always loved that skyscraper. Rand fact about that building – The Edsel automobile (known for that big hole or keyhole on the grill) dealership was located on this building’s site in 1957.

I really like Barry Corbin. Maurice Minnifield was a role of a lifetime. He must have moved, the last I read he was living with his daughter on a small ranch in Wautaga. But, that was before his role in Anger Management. I hear Charlie Sheen pays well.
Putting Dallas on the coast is bad. But it's not as bad as putting it on the edge of the Rocky Mountains like X-Files:The Movie did.
I never understood why Brad Watson stayed local. Dallas (and WFAA in particular) is a great launching pad. He would have been an excellent network correspondent.
RPM – there are ranches in Watauga?
Agree that newsman Watson could easily have run with the likes of Scott Pelley, John Roberts, et al on a bigger stage. Maybe ABC would have avoided the post-Jennings revolving door on their World News broadcast. Guess he could also join Suzy and Messrs. Criswell, Brady, Dungan & Rowlett on the UHF news gabfest for us oldtimers…
Auschwitz FB site – seems like it'd be kinda awkward to 'like' Auschwitz, huh?
Who cleans up after a car crash? Probably The Hammer, or some other plaintiff's lawyer, so long as they can find someone with deep pockets or a strong insurance policy.
"Ranch" is a subjective term. I think it was 5-10 acres. It's probably been swallowed up by cookie cutter housing by now. Tried to look up the story but couldn't find it. Thought it was in FWWeekly around 2010.
