Many, many thanks to longtime BoN reader “blurdo” for pointing out that this blog got hacked. It took this novice blog creator about a good two-and-a-half hours doing research and changing passwords, permissions, and files, but I think BoN is now hack free. Heck, the hacker ever was able to create a new user admin profile. I still have some adjustments to do to get things back to normal, like the color of blog title headings and working on the boarder of the header image, but this blog is good to go for now.
I also fear a sudden case of morning wood, but I think one’s body is actually paralized during surgery so perhaps that’s not a rational fear.
I heard helicopters hovering near my house for a while and when I took a look outside I saw three of them vying for position over the mall that’s about half a mile or so from GeedingManor. When I turned on the news, I found out someone shot himself at the mall.
I still see a lot of Texas license plates with a Lance Armstrong image on them, I wonder how those drivers feel about having those plates.
So Lance doped. Next thing you’ll know, Jody Foster is gay.
Dell’s stock price has been struggling and there are rumors of it going back to a private firm. I’m reminded of the time when Steve Jobs returned to Apple in 1997 and Michael Dell was asked by a reporter what he would do to fix Apple. Dell said he would “shut it down and give the money to the shareholders.” That stuck with Jobs, and the day that Apple became more valuable than Dell in 2006, Jobs sent an email to his employees reflecting on Dell’s comment. Yup, Jobs is laughing from the great beyond.
In that 2006 article, Apple’s stock price had the company’s market capitalization at $72.13 billion, and Dell’s value at $71.97 billion. Currently, Apple is worth $471 billion and Dell’s value is $21.35 billion.
Highly recommended Netflix documentary – The Queen of Versailles – Here’s the trailer. Basically, it follows the an uber rich family, who actually tries to build the biggest house in America positioned so that they can see the Disney fireworks everynight, and then the recession hits.
I watched The Queen of Versailles recently. The filmmaker was incredibly un/lucky to have connected with and captured the family during such a transformative time. Their zenith tracked exactly to the real estate boom.I suspect the lives of many Americans follow the curve more closely than we like to admit.
Money can't buy happiness; it can, however, rent it. Ain't dat da truth.
