I was watching television in bed with WifeGeeding sleeping at my side when the new year arrived. I leaned over to do nothing more but give her a kiss right at the turn of the year and whisper “Happy new year,” and her response was a groggy, “Nuh-uh, no . . . stop it.”
I’ve never been to a good New Year’s party.
The local media always reports the first born baby of the new year in Dallas, and I always remember that baby being of Hispanic heritage. KTVT reported this year’s babe was white, but this DMN article has different results, and also mentions that Parkland no longer participates in the “first baby of the new year” coverage and that makes a huge difference.
How weird for not one college bowl game to be television during prime time on FOX, NBC, ABC, or CBS on New Year’s Day. Times have a changed.
A stealth bomber made a fly over for both the Rose Bowl Parade and game. A bit excessive?
If there is a creepy toy hall of fame, one of the first entries would have to be those baby dolls in which the eyes open and close when you lay it down.
I ran across some kind of Hitler special the other night that stated he use to sport a full grown mustache and only shaved it to the toothbrush style because he couldn’t put on a gas mask properly with the full mustache while he was serving in the German army.
Here’s a story about a mom that bought her 13-year-old son an iPhone but made him agree to 18 rules. You can see all the rules here and the reasons behind each of them. I’m posting it because I think there are some really, really solid rules and can work as a foundation for other parents in the same boat, but I’d probably let the kid take it to school (rule 5) in case of an emergency, but it would need to be powered off.
Funny picture of the quarterback situation in Cleveland.
"■How weird for not one college bowl game to be television during prime time on FOX, NBC, ABC, or CBS on New Year’s Day. Times have a changed." I noticed the same thing. I wonder how low the ratings were for most of these lame games
Also, the Cotton Bowl situation is very confusing with two games using "Cotton Bowl" in their name.
Maybe when the new BCS system is implemented, many to most of these irrelevant, wimpy bowl games will disappear altogether. Even if there is NOTHING on TV, I won't waste my time with a bowl game with the exception of Friday's "other" Cotton Bowl and the BCS Championship game.
■"A stealth bomber made a fly over for both the Rose Bowl Parade and game".
Are you sure a "stealth" bomber actually flew over?
