Bag of Randomness

  • The latest HBO “Real Sports” has a segment about how college football isn’t doing as much to protect its players from head injuries as compared to the NFL and high school and youth leagues like Pee Wee and Pop Warner.  In that piece, it’s mentioned that the NCAA became to be after President Theodore Roosevelt encouraged reforms so protect the safety of college football players.  Interesting that the NCAA was formed to protect college football players and now all it does is whore them out, and no matter what, we’ll all continue to shake our pom poms.
  • Here’s a nice article about ESPN reporter Ed Werder and his daughter’s recovery from cancer.  I knew he was a Dallas guy, but didn’t now he lived in Flower Mound, and despite how tough he was on Jerry Jones back in the day, it was nice to see that Jerry made sure his daughter’s nurse knew whatever Werder’s daughter wants, she gets.
  • A most interesting National Geographic picture
  • For you Erin Andrews fans, a great pic of her goofing around before going on Kimmel.
  • I was surprised to find out that the city of Weatherford doesn’t have a street named after Larry Hagman or his mother.  I’m sure it’s just a crazy oversight, but she had a great career and was even a Kennedy Center honoree, and of course her son was one heck of an iconic Texan.
  • A caught the beginning of CBS’s primetime and noticed they had a nice small acknowledgment of Larry Hagman’s work for the network.
  • If you eat at your desk, here’s a nice idea for a keyboard.
  • I’m not sure what beats me down more, the “12 Days of Christmas” song or the article that comes out once a season telling us the price of each item.
  • The kid on “Two and a Half Men” is now a Christian and doesn’t want you to watch the show anymore. YouTube  Man, I kinda feel for Jon Cryer and Chuck Lorre, no actors want to work with them.
  • Regarding “Homeland”, why does Brody’s wife refer to Brody by his and her last name only?  I know I’ve stated the show is getting pretty unbelievable, but I’m expecting to see either Maxwell Smart or Agent 99 in the next episode.
  • If you are a fan of that Australian sprinter girl, you know the one, here’s an interview with her, and here’s a shorter one.
