Michael Kenny, 18, is the only gentleman in a classroom of 48 women studying on the early years degree course at the Victorian college for childcare which has trained generations of women to care for children in the households of the wealthy.
He starts this week, and will spend four years studying to care for infants. He will wear the college’s distinctive brown uniform, introduced by the college’s founder Emily Ward so Norland graduates could be recognised as professionals and not mistaken for housekeeping staff.
