Bag of Randomness

  • Yesterday was 80’s day at the American Airlines Center, but the Mavs didn’t wear their throwback jerseys.  They played the Washington Wizards, who did wear throwback jerseys, but instead of having the name “Bullets” on the jerseys, which was their team name, it just said “Washington”.
  • It was so strange to turn the television to the NCAA tournement and see President Barack Obama and Prime Minister David Cameron being interviewed, for a split second I thought they were going to cover the game.  This was Cameron’s first basketball game to watch, and he was dressed in khakis and a tight fitting polo which made him look like he was an entry-level employee at any random company.  Surprisingly, the CBS Evening News didn’t make any mention of this, it would have been some nice cross programming since one of their conglomerates was carrying the game.
  • The CBS Evening News did, however, have a very encouraging story of a 12-year-old boy that lost 85lbs and is now encouraging exercise and healthy eating habits.  You can read about it or watch the segment here.  I’m a bit surprised that the First Lady hasn’t recognized this kid.
  • Do you get more potato with medium fries at McDonald’s or at Chick-fil-A.  The waffle fry has more surface area, but theirs a lot of air space in them.
  • I wish the rules were the same for all employers when it comes to medical benefits coverage.  Some places start coverage on the first day, some start only at the first of the month, some end on the last day of employment, some end though the end of the month – this has been my experience at all my places of employment.  The family and I won’t be covered for a weekend as I switch employers – yup, I’m thankful to have coverage, but wish the game was a little more streamlined.  Too bad there never has been any health care debate in Washington.
  • That LSU homecoming queen soccer player didn’t make the football team.  You know, as big as soccer is with girls, I bet one day in the next 20 years we’ll see a woman kicker in the NFL.
  • What the heck is Reggie Wayne thinking resigning with the Colts?
  • Marie Osmond actually peed her pants on stage.
  • Stephen Hawking to Guest Star on ‘The Big Bang Theory’
  • Hopefully phone books will be next: Encyclopedia Britannica halts print edition, goes digital only
  • An interesting way to utilize that space under the kitchen sink
  • The “Field of Dreams” field may have a baseball complex built around it.
  • Dick Cheney fears Canada
  • Siri sings “Stairway to Heaven”
