Bag of Randomness

  • Two firsts for me yesterday.  I tried tofu, and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would have been.  I also had to call my auto insurance company after rear-ending a car in front of me, but it’s not as bad as it sounds.
  • The two firsts are somewhat related.  I ordered take out at Genghis Grill, which included the tofu, and the mishap happened as I left the restaurant.
  • I was at a stoplight when I saw the light turn green when I hit the gas where I traveled maybe three feet and hit the car in front of me, a gray 2007 Chevy HHR.  It turns out the light that turned green was just the turning lane.  Totally my fault.  We promptly drove into a parking lot and the first thing I did was make sure she was OK.  Physically she was fine, but as we exchanged information she asked me to write everything down as her nerves were getting the best of her.  No damage was done to my Altima, and other than my paint from my license plate coming off on her bumper, her Chevy appeared to be OK.
  • I used the USAA app on my phone to start my claim, they did a fine job of walking  you through the process to gather information and to contact a representative.
  • The Detroit Tigers play at Comerica Park, which use to be based in Detroit until it moved its headquarters to Dallas back in 2007, and now the Tigers are playing the Rangers who are based in this area to go to the World Series.  I wonder if there’s some bad blood there in Detroit.
  • I liked Doug Melvin when he was the general manager for the Rangers until he was fired, and now he’s the GM for the Brewers, who the Rangers may end up playing in the World Series.  If the Rangers and Brewers do meet in the series, that would be one swift kick to the nuts to Melvin should the Rangers beat the his Brewers.
  • What’s the story with the Rangers and their bullpen having cut out faces at the Ballpark?
  • I’m looking forward to the zombie movie “World War Z” with Brad Pitt, so when I saw this article I had to chuckle a bit: Authorities in Budapest have confiscated 85 fully-functional weapons intended to be used during filming of the Brad Pitt zombie thriller.
  • It was great to see the TCU press conference where they accepted the Big 12’s invitation and to see how genuinely happy they were, I mean, they were really emotional about it, and I thought it was fitting that they were now “home.”  It’s like Rodney Dangerfield finally getting some respect.
  • I think now that TCU has a great football program (this year is a rebuilding year) and with some big teams coming to Fort Worth, I’ll be making a few trips to Cowtown in the future to catch some games.  Sometimes it’s fun just attending a game and not having a dog in the race.
  • I’m interested to see how the Occupy Wall Street protestors in New York will react once the cold weather hits.
  • The think the pastor at First Baptist Dallas is more of an attention whore than a minister.  He’ll be on the “Today Show” this morning.  I remember when I first came to the area from college and a lot of the talk about how FBC Dallas couldn’t get anyone to visit because it was downtown and all the churches and people are in the burbs and they needed someone to draw attention to them.  I think they got what they wanted.
  • I didn’t know that simple black turtle neck that Steve Jobs so famously wore cost $175 a piece.  Even the company that made the shirt has a tribute to him.
  • Some tricks to use the next time you are stuck using MS Paint.
  • The prosecutors in the Michael Jackson death trial showed another dead photo of the singer, this time naked, but at least it was censored.  But man, that’s some showmanship.  TMZ
  • I tried one of those new Dr Pepper 10 drinks, it tastes just like any other diet drink . . . crappy.
  • A kid actually got a pencil stuck in his eye, here’s the CNN video.
  • Details on the image above.

Keith, the wife and I are first year season ticket holders at TCU. We wanted to get in before the rush once the construction is done. Full season tickets in the new end zone seating, including the game at cowboy stadium, were $350. For two. An unbelievable deal.

" A kid actually got a pencil stuck in his eye".

I can hear millions of moms yelling, "Don't play with that, you'll poke someone's eye out!"

Instead of going to Genghis Grill for tofu, you should have tried Godfather's new 9.99 pizza.

    Regarding FB Dallas…
So, what about Joel Olsten? Ugg…don't get me started. 🙁
But, for some reason, I do have enormous respect for Billy Graham and Robert Schuller. Odd.
