Bag of Randomness

  • While driving to church yesterday morning I heard Dez Bryant being interviewed by woman who asked if he had any tattoos, and replied saying he had verse from Proverbs.  I think he said Proverbs 3:16, but after looking it up I don’t think that was it.  But the reporter asked him “what does that mean?”, as in, please recite the verse.  His reply was “It means a lot of me, I know what it means . . . it means a lot to me.”
  • He also was asked what was the first thing he bought after signing his NFL contract, and he stated he bought a Bentley.  That reminds me of a conversation BaD Radio was having on THE TICKET about would you rather have your 401(k) at retirement age or what’s left of Dez’s fortune when he turns your retirement age.  Considering the Bentley and and the lawsuits against him for not paying for personalized jewelry, I’d choose my 401(k).
  • The Cowboys Stadium crew must have made some nice overtime this weekend and Jerry Jones and the city of Arlington made a lot of money with the Southwest Classic being played on Saturday and a Cowboys playing the next day.
  • The college field at Cowboys Stadium looks horrendous on television.
  • I’ve noticed the word “Classic” being added on to a lot of events that aren’t exactly classics, that is, those events aren’t even three years old.  For instance, the Cowboys Classic, the Southwest Classic, and the Kirk Herbstreit Classic.
  • Speaking of the Southwest Classic, man, Texas A&M reminds me of the Aggies when I was in high school.  They start out decently ranked, but always prove they never live up to the hype.  They’ve lost two so far this season, and I expect their third loss to come after playing Baylor.
  • Baylor has had a good year thus far, but reality hit them on Saturday.  K-State is one of those teams no one takes seriously but they’ll end up surprising you.
  • It’s October, so that means it’s Pink October for the NFL.  Man, that Susan G. Komen organization sure can market, but I think the NFL is missing out on their target audience and male related cancers.  I wish the NFL would only dedicate a week towards the cause, I don’t like seeing pink and football.
  • Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford ended up buying a suite at Cowboys Stadium for family and friends so he wouldn’t have to worry about a bunch of seat assigned tickets.  Being that he attended Highland Park High School, I have a feeling his parents could well afford it on their own.
  • Rob Ryan’s playsheet had a “Built Ford Tough” logo on it, now I think he’s selling advertisements on it.
  • I can’t imagine being both an Aggie and Cowboys fan this weekend.
  • CNN seems to be a fan of Dick Cheney as of late, he’s been on the network quite often.  I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up hiring him at some point.
  • I caught up on the DVR this weekend.  Terra Nova was just about a waste of time, but Person of Interest with Jesus and Ben Linus was fantastic and is now part of my regular viewing schedule.
  • Thank you, CBS, thank you!  Finally, after all these years, when a game goes long enough to interrupt programming, you will post what time the show that is interrupted will start.
  • Andy Rooney and CBS never said why he’s leaving.  I know the man is 92 and all, but thought you’d hear some kind of explanation.
  • Who knows what to make of the NFC East.
  • One of the worst things about this Cowboys loss, other than how much they gave the game away, at home, is we have to live with it for two weeks because of the bye week.  And to pour a little salt into the wound, our next game is at New England.
  • I finally finished reading my David Gergen book.  The back cover really intrigues me.  It’s has two photographs, and he’s at the center of each surrounded by four U.S. presidents.  That’s gotta be rare, for a person to have a picture with two different sets of four U.S. presidents.
  • The new Toyota Prius commercials creep my out.
  • Peel a Head of Garlic in Less Than 10 Seconds
  • Jesus has now appeared on an old Nintendo gaming system.
  • Gov Good Hair before he grew the hair out
  • An impressive video of stop-motion and time-lapse of light in a bedroom.
  • A 33-foot whale found a mile inland on a field?
  • A fish uses a rock to open up a claim.
