Bag of Randomness

  • I think Mavericks’ Rick Carlisle keeps Kidd on the bench too much.  Yeah, he’s old, but you aren’t trying to rest him for retirement.  I also think he rests Dirk too much and at odd times, when he’s not running a fever of course.
  • LeBron is going to try to lead in scoring tonight, he can’t take the national criticism.
  • Jason Terry and Peja are due for a big game, at least one of them.
  • When it comes to elected officials and resigning, I think that should only be the case if a law is broken.
  • I had an interesting conversation with a higher-up manager visiting from Cleveland yesterday.  She was talking about the different stages of her life regarding her attitude to work and I thought it made a lot of sense.  In your 20’s you are energetic and really just trying to fit in and figure things out.  In your 30’s, you are really dedicated to work trying to prove yourself, sometimes working crazy long hours.  In your 40’s, you realize work doesn’t define you and will be there when you get back, and you start to focus on the bigger things outside the office like family.  In your 50’s and beyond, you feel a sense of independence, sometime even refusing to things you don’t agree with and may just quit a job with nothing else lined up.
  • Sometimes, I just really enjoy yard work.
  • Sometimes, I really hate yard work.
  • I think I saw a commercial for a kid friendly family movie starring Heather Graham.  That casting doesn’t make sense to me.
  • Baseball had an interesting draft with the sons of Wayne Gretzky, Pudge Rodriquez, and Steve Garvey getting picked.
  • I know I’ve mentioned it before, but when I was visiting NYC as a college student I saw Wayne Gretzky get out of a mini-van and run into 30 Rock.  Funniest part of the whole deal wasn’t the greatest hockey player of all time getting out of a mini-van, but the bumper sticker on the van that said “Have you hugged a hockey player today?”
  • Baylor grad and wife of former Longhorn QB Colt McCoy, without being prompted, decided to dial up a national radio program and state that the University of Texas was breaking NCAA rules.  Those violations are more than likely true and have been going on forever, but it’s weird that she would just call up a national radio show and offer up that kind of information against one of her school’s rivals.  Much like the people that think Muslims were able to get a foreign born, Muslim believing Barack Obama elected president and destroy America from the inside, I think this was Baylor’s plan to try to bring down the Longhorn program.  All they needed to do was get a very attractive, tall, and athletic woman to marry one of their all time greats, gain inside knowledge, and then destroy from within.
  • You have to watch those Baylor women, they’re crafty and dangerous.  Trust me, I know this all too well.
  • A great picture of cheating politicians with the same facial expression.
  • I’ve noticed videos recorded on the iPhone seem to crop a lot of the viewing area.  I’m surprised Steve Jobs would settle for something like that.
  • The Guardian is reporting that Margaret Thatcher thinks Sarah Palin is nuts.  I’m sure Fox News will spin it saying that Thatcher is crazy for Palin.
  • I’m not sure I believe this figure: 105,000 Christians Martyred Each Year – That comes to one every five minutes.
  • Our economy sucks, but at least we get a good laugh – Americans rated most hilarious in global poll
  • Bad reviews for London’s Olympic torch
  • The current King of Late Night doesn’t work for NBC or CBS.
  • “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” – That has always been a hard part of the Bible for me to understand, but this kinda helps.
  • A nice article about the technology behind the NBA Finals.
  • First Look: The zombies of ‘The Walking Dead’ season 2
  • Better late than never?
