Bag of Randomness

  • Thanks to all of you for your comments regarding the passing of DogGeeding and for bearing with me for not posting for a week.  I know you fellow pet-lovers understand, and for you non-pet-lovers, I appreciate your patience.
  • I had DogGeeding cremated and his remains returned to me.  What I didn’t expect to be included was a cast made of his paw with his name engraved.  It was a nice touch and would make a good Christmas ornament.
  • Lots of snow in DFW yesterday.  It got me to thinking, and we are talking about a lot of if’s, but if the Cowboys still played in Texas Stadium and if they made the playoffs and hosted a game yesterday, it would have been fun to watch with all the snow.
  • Speaking of Cowboys, my friend Barry has a interesting picture on his blog that proves the audience at Cowboys stadium watch the television instead of the play on the field.
  • The shooting in Arizona is an extremely sad event, but I’ll be honest, with all the hostility with the town halls a while back, I’m surprised it hasn’t happened earlier and/or more.
  • As sad as it is for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords injuries and the death of the federal judge, it’s sad that innocent bystanders who lost their life will never be noticed by the public, so here’s a link about them.
  • So what’s up with that image above? Giffords Opponent (Jesse Kelly) Had M16 Shooting Event, ‘Help Remove Gabrielle Giffords From Office’
  • Sarah Palin has taken a lot of heat over the weekend for using crosshairs in the previous election to target congressional districts, Rep Giffords being one of them.  I understand her tough talk (don’t retreat, reload) strategy and the use of ‘military talk’ during campaigns, but in my opinion, especially with the kind of adversity displayed in the town halls and all, that may have not been a prudent decision.  It’s interesting how a Palin aid had the image removed from her website over the weekend and then state that the images weren’t crosshairs but surveyor points (source) when Palin herself called them crosshairs.  I certainly don’t think Palin is responsible for the shooting, but with her kind of influence, she should be cautious of how others may perceive her message.
  • Michael Moore makes an interesting tweet: If a Detroit Muslim put a map on the web w/crosshairs on 20 pols, then 1 of them got shot, where would he b sitting right now? Just asking.
  • Lost in the news because of the shooting in Arizona are photos of Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack having her, well, it may be too explicit to type for this blog.  But here’s an article about the photo in question.
  • For some reason Bud Kennedy of the Star Telegram has started to follow me on Twitter.  As a matter of fact, more people have started to follow me on Twitter, but I haven’t actually updated that thing lately.
  • A man makes short blog entries to his future wife – To My Wife – I wonder what makes this guy so sure he’s actually going to get married.
  • A woman makes short blog entries to her future husband – To My Husband – It’s a bit raunchier, you know how women can get.
  • A woman who knows she will never never and makes short blog entries to her 50 cats – To My 50 Cats.
  • People make short blog entries about things that God did – That Was God.
  • Should churches loan worship space to Muslims?
  • The U.S. Senate has its own candy drawer
  • Impressive work with a bandsaw
  • Very interesting close-ups of eyeballs
  • Flash mob wedding in a mall – There’s a lot of leadup to this video but it’s still touching towards the end.
  • I started a prediction list for this year but never finished it, so this is what I came up with and will check back at the end of the year to see just how well my psychic powers are:
  • Netflix is bought out, maybe by Google, Amazon, or Apple.
  • No domestic terrorist attack, but something happens overseas.
  • The Rangers fail to make the playoffs.
  • Jerry Jones will have a health scare.
  • Miley Cyrus is counseled by another former teen star.
  • A giant oil spill in the Persian Gulf.
  • Sarah Palin does not run for president because she is pregnant.
  • The Mavs make it to the NBA Finals.
  • Kim Jong-il has a has a case of almost deadly explosive diarrhea.
  • Apple offers a way to save downloaded media online.
  • The economy is well recovered and prospers.
  • A Supreme Court Justice will die.
  • Billy Graham does not die.
  • Gas prices in DFW will hover around around $4.
  • Celebrity Deaths:
    • Betty Ford

I've heard Cowboy players complain about the loss of homefield advantage because so many fans are mesmerized by that huge TV screen.

I was surprised to see that Bono's wife is still in congress.

Sorry to learn that the Rangers will miss the playoffs in 2011…I'll probably watch anyway 😉
