If he toughed it out to the end of the season, the team physician would have had to have had him committed to a mental institution. There is no way he could have absorbed all of the abuse generated during the course of seven more losses. Next week should be particularly brutal: the Giants at home. Their defense is gruesome and the Cowboys have completely abandoned the run so that means that fleet-footed 38 year old Kitna will be a sitting duck for four quarters.
I don't see the team rallying around Garrett.
It will take Jerry Jones months to contract with a new head coach and, with a lock-out looming for next year, we may not need a new coach in place until late 2011.
