Republican Virginia State Delegate Bob Marshall said at a press conference last week that God is taking “vengeance” on parents who have had abortions by making their other children disabled, according to the News Leader in Central Virginia.
“The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically,” he reportedly said. “Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children.”
“In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord,” he added. “There’s a special punishment Christians would suggest.”
That man is a terrible ignorant……..ugg! I am keeping my more colorful opinions to myself. This is what upsets me about people who use religion to make their point. What kind of actual studies does this man have to back it up? How DARE he say that a disabled child a punishment from God? How DARE he put all the blame of sin on a woman? How DARE he speak about something he should have no opinion about? How many children has he given birth to? If this is his way of witnessing and bringing people to God, he is mistaken. God is not a vengeful God! I lost my first child. She died in the womb and I struggled with that for years. Different churches had different opinions on what happened to that baby. Some said it was my sins, others said it was just God's plan, but what about those who live deplorable lives and can still pop out children constantly? The answer is simple, no one can tell you what God's reasons are. And on one should be so arrogant as to claim that a sad event is punishment from God. How dare he claim to know what God knows? Ok, I am done, sorry for the vent but I had to get that out.
