Bag of Randomness

  • Oprah and U2 will be in Dallas on Monday.  The rumor de jeour is that she will make a special appearance at the concert at JerryWorld.
  • From my understanding Oprah is also going to take advantage of the Victory Park scene at the American Airlines Center after her gig at the State Fair of Texas.  Charlie Gibson should have also taken advantage of Victory Park when he was here.
  • And I hear Oprah is going to sit in during the early evening local news cast on WFAA.
  • Other than presidents, I’m not sure if two bigger stars have been in this area at one time.  Well, other than the time Barry Switzer was coaching the Cowboys and Barry Manilow was in town.
  • Maybe Oprah wants to try the fried butter.  Here’s a picture of the fried butter right before a friend ate it.
  • I’m really looking forward to this U2 concert.  Surprise, surprise.
  • Nathan S. made a very good point yesterday – anytime “on campus” is added to a post it automatically intensifies it.
  • I’m looking forward to seeing the moon crash this morning.
  • I think Republicans are more homogeneous in thought and belief than Democrats.  Democrats by their nature are broad in thought and acceptance, that is, they are liberal.  Because of that, Republicans should never fear a Democratic majority.  Their broad thought keeps them from unifying on issues.

Oprah rumours in Dallas….I hear she's meeting with Tony Romo to give him some plays she's devised. She will then meet with Marc Crawford to discuss the powerplay and a potential trade with the Vancouver Canucks. She will then head over to the Dallas Zoo to feed the white alligators and then on Saturday I hear she's going to Keller's to race a hotrod….that's what I heard.

Funny, I think liberals are just as rigid – confusing "education" with "tolerance". The most intolerant people I know are liberals, who refuse to even acknowledge there could be any justification for owning a gun, or that climate change might not be caused solely by the actions of humans, or that universal coverage with a finite amount of money to be spent must lead to rationing. The elite liberals think their education makes them smarter than the rest of us and so we should blindly follow their lead. The orthodox conservatives think that ANY attempt to limit individual freedoms is to be avoided at all costs. Each viewpoint is equally nuts.

Politicians from both parties are the same, corrupted by power and a slave to public opinion. I will give some politicians the benefit of the doubt, and say that at one time they were in public service to serve, but have since been worn down by the machine that is Washington.

Maybe I need to put it another way. I'm looking at it from more of a group perspective than an individual one. If you have a group of 100 Republicans and a group of 100 Democrats put into separate rooms and gave them a list of things to agree and disagree on, I think at the end of the day the group of Republicans will come to agreement on more things as a unit than the Democratic group. But that's just my own opinion.

I suppose I react because I know many people who identify as die-hard Democrats but very few who call themselves Republicans after GWB. I guess most of my friends would be properly classed as members of the Anything-but-a-Democrat party.
