Bag of Randomness

  • I wish I knew how the Japanese pronounced Hiromshima because I wish I really knew how it should be properly said.
  • My mother never pronounced Vietnam with the ending rhyming with “ham.”
  • Possible future road trip [Thanks, Chris!]
  • One mile scroll
  • It takes 35 Taco Bell hot sauce packets to refill your hot sauce bottle  Link
  • I totally missed this question the other day.  Is Reno east or west of San Diego?  Google Maps
  • Multi-faith calendar
  • An interesting article about churches facing foreclosures
  • I think I like this idea for a cell phone mic
  • This is a pretty lame bag of randomness.  Perhaps it was because I had a bad case of the Mondays.

I thought they pronounced it here o sh ma–as opposed to a western here o she ma. I remember a Japanese woman telling me one time that they typically don't emphasize syllables.

  2. stephanie says:

From my time spent living in Japan, I learned they pronounced it as Pete says.

  3. sister says:

    It's Hir-OH-shima… perhaps I should call.

Momma said it with Vietnamese pronunciation… "Yiet Naam" almost.

Can I go on the bacon trip too?

you can go to the wikipedia entry for hiroshima. it has an audio link at the top, but you have to have an ogg codec installed.

you can try merriam-webster.com, but i think they have the american pronunciation.

you can go to forvo.com and hear it spoken by a real japanese person.

    i love the internet!
