Two Senators, a Republican and Democrat, meet for lunch and started to discuss faith and politics.
Republican: You Democrats know nothing about Jesus.
Democrat: That’s absurd. We know plenty about Jesus.
Republican: No you don’t, you don’t know a thing about Jesus. I’ll prove it . . . I’ll bet you $20 that you can’t even recite the Lord’s Prayer.
Democrat: I’ll take you on that bet.
Both men shake hands to confirm the wager.
Democrat: Are you ready.
Republican: Go for it . . .
Democrat: Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep;
Should I die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
The Republican then reaches for his billfold and says, “Darnit, I didn’t think there was any way you could do it.”
It's interesting… Officially "faith and politics" are separated in the US, but practically they are intertwined. Where I come from, you either talk about faith or you talk about politics.
