I never thought I would say this, but I sure wish the Dallas Cowboys were as good as the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals use to be in St Louis, and Kurt Warner, a former Super Bowl MVP for the St Lous Ram, is taking the Cardinals to the Super Bowl. Interesting.
And to think earlier in the year Warner wanted to quit because of the fear of injury.
Oh, and who didn’t think he was washed up at least three or four years ago?
I hope they win the Super Bowl.
Even though I don’t root for Pittsburgh, I love the passion of their fans and the atmosphere of that stadium.
And I thought it was classy of their head coach to be on the field during McGahee’s injury.
On Saturday night I decided to treat WifeGeeding to a nice dinner, so I took her to the good Braums in Flower Mound, as opposed to the one in Lewisville. It was there that I saw a man probably in his mid 70’s working behind the counter. Stuff like that breaks my heart.
If I were to start a ministry or one of those Faith Based Initiative programs, I would do something to help single mothers. In short, I would set up a free or heavily discounted day care so that lower income mothers who have to work or are attending college has a place to drop off their kids. To enroll in the project, the mother would have to show a W2 or class schedule, or something to show that they are in need. Anywho, just a thought. I think many single mothers are having trouble getting ahead because they have to sacrifice in terms of caring for their children.
I share a cubical with someone that is from another country and culture. He’s always asking very interesting questions about our history and culture, the latest coming after reading an article about the inauguration. He wondered why were the number of inaugurations and number of presidents were not equal.
If you love Bob Dylan and Jesus I might have found a book for you.
I fear that I’m going to get stuck in an elevator for a very very very long time with other people and that I will have some type of uncontrollable bowel movement.
Lance Armstrong is about to get on his bike, per his TwitPic.
Speaking of Twitter, Karl Rove left the following on his Twitter: “Send a farewell letter to President Bush—Email gwbfarewell@gmail.com [no attachments] and I’ll give him your note on January 20.”
I’ve always wanted to go back to school to work on my doctorate so that I could teach business classes full time. But I almost feel like if I were to go back to school I would most want to study church history.
But then again, me loves me some presidential history.
I read an interesting passenger story about the plane crash in the Hudson. After the plane stopped, this passenger took off all this clothes except for his underwear so he would better swim to safety. He was one of the last ones to get off, and then noticed everyone else wasn’t wet, and there he was left in underwear. The article didn’t mentioned if he was decided to put his clothes back on.
I hear a lot of people stating that landing in the Hudson as a miracle and giving credit to God. I’m not saying that God couldn’t have interceded, but I tend to be careful saying such things, after all, people have died in plane crashes before, so why didn’t God intercede then? Bad things happens, but it’s how we react to them I think that matters.
I’m surprised there aren’t more videos or pictures of that plane landing in the Hudson. I saw a few pictures of when it was about to hit, but I’m surprised there’s not more.
And it is amazing there weren’t any boats in the way.
Why was the Cowboys’ first Superbowl in the 90’s in the Rose Bowl? I thought only stadiums that were home to NFL teams could host a Superbowl? I guess it was one of those special circumstances.
Christianity Today examines Bush’s faith-based legacy by talking to Tony Blair and other world leaders over the subjects of health-based foreign aid, domestic faith-based initiatives, judical appointments, and the war in Iraq.
If you are into Mad Libs, here’s an inaugeration speech generator.
I caught some of the Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial special on HBO thanks to the greatness of the DVR. As Bruce Springsteen stepped out, I was amazed at this thought . . . how awe-inspiring it must be to sing on the step of the Lincoln Memorial in front of gigantic crowed wrapped around the National Mall.
But they all looked cold.
Garth sounded cool, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he came out of retirement after feeling the rush of playing in front of so many people.
I’m surprised that was only available on HBO.
U2 sounded good, but I think it took a little while for Bono to warm up, the video of their performance is at the bottom. With Bono being such an admirer of Dr King, I’m sure playing on those steps must have been quite moving.
Kinda weird for an Irish band to be playing at such a thing, but I’m not complaining.
If you want to help document the Inauguration this site might be for you. It’s kind of a neat idea, actually.
Speaking of junk food and Obama . . . Krispy Kreme is giving away a free doughnut of choice to every customer on inauguration day. But perhaps they shouldn’t have used “choice” in this announcement, as a pro-life group thinks the company is promoting a pro-choice agenda.
A dentist figures one way to get kids over the fear of wearing braces is to show what celebrities once wore brace. Visit his site here, but I’m just going to warn you there’s music involved and I couldn’t find a way to turn it off.
Wow – what struck me most was the link about the pro-life group thinking the use of the marketing word “choice” by a donut chain to give away free donuts was a political decision to push some other agenda. That’s just sad, and a poor attempt at trying to grab some free publicity, no matter on which side of that debate you fall. What other word could they have used to succinctly describe that you get to decide for yourself the flavor of your free donut?
Thank you for linking to my post on Southwest Airlines using Twitter! Hope you have a fantastic day!
