So much happened on Sunday. First you had the regular NFL games, 60 Minutes dedicated only to h McCain and Obama (I thought McCain came across very well btw), The Emmys, The last Yankee game at Yankee Stadium, and of course the Cowboys game.
Speaking of the final game at Yankee stadium, I noticed that one of my old friends from Mineral Wells was at bat for the Orioles. Never would I have thought that someone that I actually played with as a kid would not only be batting at Yankee Stadium, but actually had the possibility to hit the final home run there. He didn’t, but the thought ran across my mind.
I don’t want to give the impression he was a close friend or anything, but I just wanted to note that it’s interesting seeing someone from your childhood actually play Major League Baseball.
From what I remember, his father was a police officer and died in the line of duty when he was very young. I also remember his grandparents and his mother attending every one of his games, but never ever did I think he had the ability to become a professional athlete.
One thing that I always enjoyed about watching a Yankees game was how the elite and all the celebrities sat in the stand with everyone else, that’s not going to happen in the new place.
I’m sick and tired of all the drug commercials. I think, and would hope, my doctor knows what is best to prescribe for me rather than me suggesting something to him . . . or her.
I can’t decide if I was happier seeing the Cowboys win their first game in Lambeau Field or seeing the Dolphins crush the Pats and watching their fans leave early.
Here are the videos that the winners of Southwest Airlines Blog-o-spondent contest created while in Las Vegas. The overall winner of the contest was the first video.
I have a feeling my obituary will read something like:Â He loved Jesus, his wife, dog, the Dallas Cowboys, and blogging – not necessarily in that order.
I don’t like the “slinky” Post-Its.
I read recently that back in the old days church pews used to be rented. I think I heard of that before, but was reminded of it when reading an article about Lincoln.
I saw the second episode of Lost from the first season after SNL. That was the episode we learn of Charlie’s drug addiction and how the flight attendants were trying to get him out of the bathroom. I remember at the time thinking it was because of him that the plane crashed.
1) For their last game at Yankee Stadium, the organization showed a video representing all of the great events and former players. They also invited back all of the former Yankee greats to participate in the final day. There was never a mention of Roger Clemens and he was not present for the game.
2) Weird local obit. It might seem morbid but if you don’t want your reputation to suffer after you die, it might be a good idea to write and update your own obit so it reads the way you would want a summary of your time on earth to read.
3) The Patriots…never sell those Boston fans short. Even after last year’s great season, when the Patriots lost their first game this year, their fans booed them.
i find the slinky post-its very annoying as well, and always end up writing on them upside down when they are not in their handydandy slinky post-it holder.

I think I would have the same exact obit as you….. minus the blogging.
