Penny and Me

Do you remember the movie Cast Away where Tom Hanks is stranded on a tropical island?  His character, Chuck Noland, is the only human on the island; and at one point he gets so lonely and depressed he starts to talk to a volleyball he named Wilson – which actually becomes his best friend.

Well, I know I’m not stranded on an island, but I started to get pretty lonely and depressed being stuck in Boston until I discovered Penny (a Penn 3 tennis ball) under my bed.

It turns out Penny was sick and tired of being cooped up in a hotel room and persuaded me to take her out.  Since I had nothing better to do, I took her up on her offer and we hit the town.

This is a picture of us on our way to dinner.  She wanted to take a picture with Flipper.

And this was us at dinner:

I don’t even like seafood, but she insisted since we were in Boston.

After dinner we made our way to Faneuil Hall:

And caught a street performance:

We ended the night at Cheers:

Where we ran into Norm and the wooden indian chief:

On the way back to the hotel we ran into Red Auerbach, Penny is a huge Celtics fan:

The next day we decided to visit the JFK Presidential Library and Museum:

Where we had lunch:

We also decided to visit Harvard:

And because she’s part Irish, Penny wanted to visit an Irish pub with a live band:

The next morning we got up and went yachting in Boston Harbor.

She really enjoyed the view of the skyline

And she begged me for a picture of her in front of the home of the Celtics, TD Banknorth Garden:

I thought I was lucky when I got a beautiful shot of Old Ironsides with the Bunker Hill memorial in the background, a shot you can only get when you are in the harbor.

Later in the day we went to Little Italy where the Columbus Day Parade got started:

It was a very long and festive parade, and even some Star Wars characters made a visit:

We decided to end the weekend early and go back to the hotel and watch some football.  So far Penny has been good company, even though she talks a little much.

Other pictures can be found here, as well as larger versions of the ones posted above.

I can’t wait to go home.  I really miss WifeGeeding, SisterGeeding, and of course my little fur-children.

Great pics SirGeeding, thank you for sharing. I’m interested in the part you ‘found her under the bed”, correct? Hummm, none of my business though. In my opinion, you need to return home. Get there as fast as you can.

Have a safe trip and thanks again for sharing the pics, with a tennis ball. snicker snicker

Loved the tour with Penny. However, I believe I could see in her fuzzy face amongst the 3 a longing to go see the Bruins play hockey while you’re in Boston.

Long time no talk to my friend. Great post!! Penny is kinda hot!!!! Anyway, hope all is well with you. Saints are stinking up New Orleans this year but LSU is making up for it……ok maybe not but that’s what I keep telling myself. Much love.
